Tokyo, Day 2. Fish!

... I could turn the clock back just a few days & experience it all fresh for the first time again.

Kept watered by the 150yen alcoholic fruit drinks from a vending machine inside the hostel we sat in the small area outside, chatted, laughed & got slowly (well quite rapidly actually) ****** as my visions of neon night-time Tokyo seeped further down. We didn't get to bed until about 5am & I ended up crashing in their room. A crazy end to a crazy day.

Monkeying Around Tokyo

... in a little bow whenever he can. We’re a fun team.)
Sawa took us to Kamakura yesterday, a beautiful city south of Tokyo that used to be the capital of Japan from 1185 to 1333. One of the most incredible sights there is a giant Buddha statue that was built in the 1200’s. We have also thoroughly enjoyed all of the Buddhist Temples and Shinto Shrines. There's so much more to explain in terms of what we've seen and experienced, but we thought it ...

... a few japanese couples drinking the evening away along with a male and female bartender. We quickly made friends with the people in the bar, and the female bartender was a very good english-speaker. We chatted her up for a bit, asking her many different words in Japanese, etc....trying our best memorized phrases which brought alot of laughter. When all else failed, we would just raise our glasses and say Kompai!! (Cheers in Japanese) Everyone loved that. Well ...

Edo-Tokyo Museum field-trip and Ueno Adentures!

... that are always willing to help me go over the answers! Reiko and Koichi are doing well, and today they showed me the information for our trip to Nikko in two weeks! We're going to go see the autumn leaves in a nationally protected, traditional area. There is a very famous temple and is a site along what is called the Romantic Road, among Kyoto, Nara, and others. Well it's about midnight, so I should probably go suggle up in my cozy futon. Miss you all! Love, Meaghan

so where do you want to go now??

... I don't think they're really made for the width of US hips...anyway, mine just squeeze in between the armrests...I think they're getting bruised during the flight...and my personal video player, which I am elated to find on the flight, is showing worse films that you'd find on a bus in South America...well, maybe that's going some...but they're bad...and they're mostly in Japanese...go figure. But the stewardesses are so nice and accommodating ...

Busy days!

December 17, 2007 JEFF IS HERE!!! He came in Saturday and I was very happy to have him here! Brooklyn will be here next week and then the only thing missing will be Kris, who can't be here this year. Yesterday Jeff and I spent the day rather lazily. We slept in and then went to lunch at "Jonathan's." It is what they call a "family restaurant." This includes places like Coco's, Denny's, and other chains we don't know. They are all pretty much the same no matter the name. It ...

Tokyo DisneySea

... our version. I like the story better, but I don't think the ride went up and down as much. They seem very concerned with safety though, as these seats had over-the-shoulder seat belts (unlike the California version). We walked through the Waterfront to an area that looked like Venice. We wanted to do a gondola ride, but the line was long, and it was raining. So instead, we caught the DisneySea Transit Steamer Line, which took us back to the ...

Day 26 - Tokyo

... like to practise their English on tourists and the many that work in Tokyo; but out of simple respect for the country, the foreigner should not expect the Japanese to just adopt speaking English at every situation. Learning should be a two-way street, and is often more enjoyable if both parties leave a conversation having learnt some new words. To those living in Japan right now and still unable to speak Japanese, screw your English-only speaking work colleagues. If they want to ...
