... Cannery Row a historic area of the wharf that, at the turn of the century, was bustling with the fishing & canning of sardines. That is until they fished it out and the sardine business collapsed!

Today the area draws tourists with multiple restaurants, bars, shops & the Monterey Bay Aquarium. After lunch, we spent a couple hours in the Aquarium, which is pretty amazing (though sort of pricey @ $40 each). It is ...

... including a huge eel that graced us with a rare appearance and a half dozen leopard sharks. After a visit to the sea horse and jellies exhibitions and lunch, we then saw sea otters being fed before we went to the outside tide pool. This pool is open to the ocean but has a natural wall that makes it self-contained except at high tide. Here they do Underwater Explorers, the ability for 8-13yr olds to try out scuba diving. ...

      Some like it hot

... themselves required a bit of searching, and I wasn't sure we'd spot them at first. Eventually we saw what looked like a small 2-4 person hot tub built into the rocks leading down to a creek. A bit farther down we found 2 more similarly sized hot tubs, each one a slightly different temperature depending on how high up the rock wall it was. But seriously, someone had lugged a few bags of qwik-Crete or something 10 miles out into the ...
