Woo hoo... we're really 'on the road again' now courtesy of our new veahickle (say it as you see it, it's no mistake!). The grey gremlin as we lovingly refer to her, as she's much like one - a Ford Focus hybrid; half petrol, half electric. She sure gave us a nasty shock the first time we pulled up to a pump to fill her up & took a butchers at …

The mums look after their pups for quite a while and spend 3 hours a day grooming them and another 3 hours grooming themselves as they have suck thick fur which needs to be in perfect condition to keep warm in these cool waters. After a storm, Luna was separated from her mum which they said is pretty normal as it's so hard to keep track of your baby with huge crashing waves! Pecan trees are everywhere, and they must have done a cleanup of tumbleweed plants because they are all piled up along the fences by ...

... half desert like, half forest - on your right.
A few times along the road we found vista points to stop in and take some photos of the scenery and spend some time appreciating the surroundings.

Our hotel here is so beautiful, it has it's our own living space, kitchen area and balcony so can not complain and we are right in the heart of Monterey.

After a short walk we realised how close we were to everything, in about a minutes walk and ...

... of sea lions, and saw a colony of them clustered round a jetty on the other side of the creek. On our way there, we stopped to see some seals, basking on the shore fairly close to us... and then another otter floating on his back in the lagoon. Woh! But it was soon supa mega woh as we pulled into the area near where we had seen the sea lions. There right below us was a large collection of them. Some on the pontoons sunbathing, others in the water swimming ...
