A short drive of 27 miles along the coast to the historic village. When I last visited it some thirty years ago there were few tourists. Shortly after we arrived three busses arrived and disgorged gangs of them - we retreated to the outskirts of the town were there were only hikers walking the Pilgrims trail. Around 13:00 the busses gathered up their flock and left and we returned to the town to wander through the old streets ...

Back in Santander, we picked up our bags from Alberto's and after a quick Racion de Rabas and Cana (small beer) close to the Banco Santander arch, we caught another bus to Potes (via Santillana!) - 3hrs. Connected to Espinama - 30mins.

... lunch so we just headed straight back to the ferry terminal. There were now more vechicles waiting but still no ferry so we got the van ready for boarding an tried to relax. We ended up being one of the last groups of vehicles to board which was very frustrating. Getting to the port early did not help in this situation.

Once we finally go on board, and the cleaners ...
