... Richtung Bromo Vulkan. Als wir den Kraterrand erreichen merke ich, dass ich mitten durch den Krater fahren muss um das Dorf auf der anderen Seite zu erreichen. Dies ist nicht so einfach, da es keine Strasse gibt und im Sand fahren kann ich praktisch nicht. Im Dorf finden wir keine Unterkunft die uns zusagt und so Zelten wir mitten im Krater und sehen den Rauchenden Schlund im Mondlicht. Dazu kochen wir bei Kerzenlicht was ...

... their ears. I did about 5 mins then asked to go back to the seat as I felt a bit unstable with nothing to hold onto! A few more pics later and we're walking through the river again to the drop off place. It was such a treat to have an elephant ride, something I wanted to do in Asia. I'd done a lot of research into where to do elephant trekking and only a few places had good reviews so I was thrilled to be able to ride at Tangkahan.

... lady, then the kids came in. And then another lady altogether got one with us. It was pretty strange but they thanked us so graciously afterwards. When we were leaving the flower garden the same thing happened. A girl just younger than us asked if she could take a picture with us. It ended up being Mel and I and two of the guys this girl was with. We were both laughing about it with our guide because even he thought it was strange! Felt like a celebrity though! ...

The view over the caldera was definitely worth the early wake up, with the additional highlight that while there we could see a small eruption of another active volcano, Mount Semeru, the highest mountain in Java.
On the way back to the hotel, when we drove past Mount Bromo, we could see how lucky we had been to climb Mount Bromo the day before, as it was crowded with jeeps, sellers, horses and tourists, and the way up looked dustier than it was before.

... from Edwin and Mo, but I couldn't kick myself towards them. Kiril (our DMT) to the rescue helped me out and once the cramp was gone pushed me along to reach the others....a bit panicked by the whole thing, Edwin took my hand and coached me for the next twenty minutes. He never fails to cheer you up, and messed around trying to make me giggle. I was glad when the dive ended though, my leg was sore and I was tired.
