Pujon, East Java, Indonesia cobanrondo... lazy! Instead Dan got the guitar and they all had a little jam in the restaurant.<br><br>We wanted to stay longer but know we dont have much time left with Kim and Clare so we set off for Pulah Weh the next day, promising Adi and Jon we will try and come back next year. I think we've already resigned ourselves to another 2 months in Indonesia, as we've so much left to see still and places like here and Tangkahan just blow your mind and a few days just isn't long enough!<br>
Bukit Lawang, Sumatra, Indonesia danandkate... and light starting to lighten the main attraction - our view across to Gunung Bromo and the Tengger caldera. It was very busy up there as it was Balinese New Year and Gunung Bromo is revered by Balinese Hindu's and also a couple was ...
Cemoro Lawang, Java, Indonesia mikesblog... Oh well! I finish my tour after looking at their organic gardens. I stop for my delicious strawberry milk shake and move on to the apple orchard. This guide is nice and only speaks a little English. My Indonesian is getting better because 50% of the conversations is done in bahasa with the help of my little phrase book. She explains to me that there are four different types of apples grown here. The sweetest was actually from ...
Cemoro Lawang, Java, Indonesia aguas... the main crater, with mount semara (sp?) in the background. Semara is supposedly the most active volcano in java (the land of extremely active volcanos), erupting every ten or fifteen minutes. It did indeed spout out a bunch of ash and steam four or five times during the hour we were up there... kind of made me wonder about all of the advertisements for trekking adventures to mount semara. I mean climbing up volcanos is cool and all, but it seems a bit silly to climb ...
Gunung Bromo National Park, Indonesia akre... bit, the jungle looked spectacular, all steamy & sticky, we saw ants the size of your small finger, monkeys, hornbills & it was amazing - but the most strenuous thing we'd ever done - much more difficult than when i did trekking in Borneo in 2005. However, it had its pitfalls... Both me + Dan both nearly killed ourselves TWICE up there ...
Bukit Lawang, Sumatra, Indonesia adrian.gfc... posionus fumes into the air. Yet, somehow, when we came to look for a hotel every single one we looked at was fully booked! Eventually we found a room in a 'motel' and although it bore a striking resemblance to a cell with no windows or bathroom it did have a TV with English-speaking channels. So we spent our last night in Sumatra eating McDonalds and watching the Discovery Channel in preparation for our return to civilisation after our flight to Bali the next day.
