... the children relaxed and got used to us, I was proved completely wrong! They were an extremely bright and creative group of children who produced some beautifully original creations in no time at all. These included some fantastic drawings, poems and even masks, boats and animals which they made from folding and tearing the paper. I was delighted by what they could do! ... joined us in the pools and there was much giggling when the boys lowered their 'bits' into the water (!) and we all had a good laugh when the uncles and older boys pushed the rejecting Dad into the pool. A zillion obligatory selfies with our new friends later and we headed back to the hotel where Hannah and Joe shared a pre-dinner Bintang whilst dangling legs in the pool and discussing the plan for the next few years- the plan; worry about it later :)

The trek up to the rim of the crater was only 30mins, but consisted of walking uphill on volcanic ash and also approx. 100 steep steps, hence was very tiring.
