... if you're going to feed them, pretty cool! After a hard day of exploring and swimming we stumbled upon a Ben & Jerry's ice cream shop. Now ice cream is a real treat for us because our freezer on the boat won't keep ice cream frozen, so it's usually months between this type of treat. Tom being the ice cream connoisseur led the way and found the waffle cones with 2 scoops were roughly the size of a 5 litre bucket. So after 2 hours of slurping ice cream we each realised that ...
Nassau, Bahamas bellavita... to burn myself. Logistics, logistics! I'm sure full time cruisers have cup holders to place these in while underway! We didn't set up a schedule, every hour or so one of us took the wheel. At 4AM we reached Little Harbor Bar (you do NOT want to cross that at night) and changed our heading more easterly to clear Elbow Cay and the rocks off Man of War. Reach MOW North Channel around 8:30 AM. The sail up from Spanish Wells ...
MARSH HARBOR, Bahamas takinbetz... and a ship is in the vicinity, it will tell you the name of the ship so that you can hail it by name and also gives you the MMSI so you can telephone the bridge if they don't answer the radio! Some boats have it all - SSB, Radar, AIS, Watermaker, refrigerator, freezer, Satellite capability - you name it! (They probably also are running a genset.) We've seen all kinds of boats equipped in all kinds of ways. The ...
WADERICK WELLS CAY, Bahamas takinbetz... dinghied around the area although the current was running quickly into the anchorage. I had closed the companionway but all the hatches and portals were open to the breeze. After hiking around the island we settled into the chairs up on the porch of the Park Service building overlooking the water. Met another couple traveling on a 36 Pearson out of Wisconsin. They were heading back up the Exumas ...
WARDERICK Wells CAY, Bahamas takinbetz... our own meals mostly, using fresh fish (Nassau grouper and trigger fish) that we bought from the locals. We also tried some conch fritters at a restaurant which were yum. Last night we attended the local fish fry, a big bbq party for the local community, and bumped into many fellow vacationers (mostly American) that we had met earlier in the week- its a small town and all that. Now we are back in Nassau until Sunday when we fly to Panama. Lots of love xxx
Nassau, New Providence Island, Bahamas markandcharALICE TOWN, BIMINI Well, Bahamas Customs let us in! We took a slip at the Bimini Blue Water Resort - $1/foot - $10 electric. Water is .25/gallon - but we don't need any. We're only staying the night. Once we cleared in, we walked the town of Alice Town - that took about 5 minutes! For a little town with a straight street there was a lot going on - people ...
Alice Tow, Bahamas takinbetz... arrive in Spain early. However we can't do that because we have a specific time that we reserved the dock. Later in the day we had activities meetings and I attended the independent travel club. It was crowded and a great time to meet other people that will be traveling in small groups apart from S@S. Right now I have two options I am still considering for Spain. One option would be to stay in the south and visit Cadiz ...
Atlantic Ocean, Florida, Bahamas claudiv... often as it is extremely relaxing, does not take much time (3 days) and is very close to home. Everything you could possibly need is onboard the ship, and we were fortunate enough to have excellent (hot) weather all 3 days...... and most importantly - no hurricanes.
Nassau, New Providence Island, Bahamas a3dennert... the airport was easy and the taxi drivers were pushy but not overly so, just remember to always go to the taxi que line, and dont just go with the guy standing away from the others even if his price is cheaper. always make sure your cab has a meter and make sure you driver turns it on. if there is no meter negotiate a price BEFORE you leave, trust me, this will aleviate avoidable hassle once you reach your distination. and if the driver askes for more than you ...
Nassau, New Providence Island, Bahamas jmb021... out of their dresses into swimwear. After a few minutes of interesting conversation with Brenda and the ladies just yards away looking onwards, we became completely distratced from going to the Babbling Brooke. Also, we realized that the sun had began to set and we were losing light. "Let's go over here and check out these things hanging from the trees," Mungo said reminding me that we didn't have much time ...
