Not entirely shure, if I spend my last day in a foreign country, I head towards north. A stopover at Novi Ligure provides me finally the opportunity to send a notification to all family and friends about my remaining itinerary before return back home. The date has been fixed to the 29.
The ride up to Vercelly in the low lands was not that exciting like the sighting of the mountain of Mont Blanc in the far. Since my ...
... out from lack of oxygen I was able to gather myself and enjoy some really amazing views along with a packed lunch. After the mountain trek we went into the small ski town and enjoyed some of our "favorite brewage and enjoyed the surroundings" (per request of prof. Delmar).
Heading to Rome and Barcelona next week, another post should follow shortly after.
We're approaching the final week of this "bi-mester." The work load is getting steadily heavier and I combat it by ...
... way up the mountain with many 180 degree switchbacks that
were very narrow, I am glad I did not approach traffic coming the
other way in these turns. There also was not a guard rail to be
found and as I reached higher altitude, I became a little nervous
looking over the edge to the valley over 1,500 feet below. I reached
Megeve and decided that I had had enough nail biting driving for the
day, so I turned around and worked my way back down. I then headed
back to ...
... at
over 15,000 feet. It is a very impressive sight from the town and
once I arrived in the town center, climbers and hikers were arriving
from up above as the day was ending. It was about 60 degrees and I
sat out and had a beer before heading back to the hotel to read up on
the restaurant recommendations. I ended up at a restaurant about a
block from the hotel and had a nice meal of pork, mushrooms and
fries. Back to the room as the first day jet lag was ...
I am only stayin the night just to see the Matterhorn. The sun is out and I took a hike up nearby hill. It was about an hour and a half uphill walk with regular short stops to catch my breath. I think I have had enough of hiking now, I did 4 hours of it at Montreux as well, I must have the best **** at the moment. Spectacular view of the mountain at the hilltop though. It's less of a mountain and more of a giant pinnacle of rock. It looks menacing, to prove it there is a nearby graveyard full ...
Zermatt, Swiss Alps, Switzerland tonkinIt's a driving day today..as we have decided to cross Switzerland just over the border to Chamonix, Mont Blanc in France. We got up for breakfast, heading down at 9.30am, breakfast was average..didn't really love the hotel as the ladys cleaning the rooms were banging around at all hours..and the room was too hot without the windows (and mossies!) open. We did a bit of research when we finally got some internet at breakfast and decided that we were heading towards Zurich, so at around ...
Chamonix, Rhône-Alpes, France jasndan... and that if he fails, he will have to spend the night in jail. Awesome... So I wait with the car for about 20 min thinking crazy thoughts in my head.... Jon finally comes back and had only blown 0.007. The cops finally admit that the balloon is never accurate and yes, the construction is blocking the sign, so they didn’t even give us a ticket and told us we were lucky they liked Canadians! Still, it wasn't a fun ...
Chamonix, Rhône-Alpes, France sofenjon... out the signs and found that none of pointed to the place we were trying to get to, so we must have been going the wrong way. Very disappointing! But on the bright side (isn’t there always one?!) we had a gorgeous view from up there and the Matterhorn was peeking through the clouds at just the right time. It was the perfect moment to take a breather and some good piccies before our trek back down!
The trek down took about 20 minutes, it wasn’t as ...
... the most of this sleep-in, as once we got up we spent most of the morning in our pyjamas. The French eat everything for breakfast; Kit-Kats, brownies, cake. Its been a nice treat. I woke up pretty sore from my fall yesterday, though. Once we finally decided to get dressed, it was time for lunch. We went to her grandmother's for the last time for lunch. As usual, it was really yummy. We got ready to go skiing, and met Ismérie at the bottom of the chairlift. We went up the ...
