We had missed the changing of the guards which happens at 11.30am every second day in winter but it was still great to see the building in real life. I have seen it on TV so many times including the royal weddings where the royal family stand on the balcony and now I can see it in reality. ... It was a short ride to the hotel, i was too erly to checkin but they asked housekeeping to start on my room so i went to wait in the lobby. My phone refused to connect to a network even when i turned on roaming so i had to stick with skype on tabs. I sent messages out that i'd made it. Emailed coworkers that i'd probably miss lunch.
