    We stopped at the port of Corfu. The only way to really get around the island is to take an excursion. At least it was for us. We were going to see a Monastery in the village of Palaiokastritsa and to the village of Gastouri to visit the 19th century Achilleion Palace.
    The places were very beautiful and again the excursions didn't disappoint ...

    By the time we left the castle it was around 3pm and we realised we hadn't had our usual daily feast for lunch. Driving down through Palaiokastrista, a beautiful cove marred by ugly Taverna touristic traps, we realised everything was shut.     ... to some ballroom dancing show and I stayed in the main dining area with my new friend Theresa, from Chicago. Tonight there were lots of people dressed up to meet the captain in the other dining area but he happened to come by when I was getting a coffee in the cafe and we chatted briefly – nice man – big responsibility but he is not Italian so I guess its all ok.
