We left Batavia, NY for New York City around 11am. The directions claimed that it was a six hour drive. We were hoping to meet our friends between 6 and 6:30. The drive in was pretty uneventful, and quite pretty in general; rolling "mountains," and forested valleys lined the highway through New York and Pennsylvania. 1/6. Left Iceland 8 hours ago, sitting in cab in traffic jam in downtown New York. Is this civilisation? And it's Sunday! Some Jewish festival day or other and 6th Avenue closed to traffic, result gridlock. Cabbie not that impressed when asked him to take us back to Iceland! Eventually got to our hotel. ... zoomed in and not, Chris did alot of filming to. The sun started to go down turning the sky orange which was magical and we watched the sun set. Then the lights of New York began to be switched on and the transformation was incredible. We all had a great time up there and I am really glad we went at the time we did.

So we board our flight and it gets to the time we are meant to depart and we then get notified by the captain that there's a small technical problem with the plane so they have to fix it and get clearance...
