Maybe my body is getting accustomed to walking 20 km every day, maybe it was the cooler temperatures today or maybe it was the free wine from the fountain at the Bodegas Irache - but today's walk seemed to be getting easier.

The Benedictine Monesterio de Irache has served pilgrims since the 10th century. The famous wine fountain allows pilgrims to fortify themselves for the long journey ahead. One hundred litters of wine a day ...

... and the first half of the day we were above the valley in the forest looking out over incredible vistas. The last half of the walk was rolling hills next to red soil fields. After a couple of stops at places, upon inspection, that had high bedbug potential, no locks on doors, ...

... trail, a creek to soothe our feet, and the bed we find at day's end. So many now have severe limps and we are grateful to have escaped such fate so far. They still keep walking....and walking. I saw a stop sign at a crossroads with our path. Someone spray painted words on it to read: "Don't STOP walking". So much for our diet that eliminates wheat and dairy....bread is our new best friend. I suppose we ...

Our night on the aire was fine and we set off the following morning for a slow and windy drive through yet another national park. The first part was small roads with trees, oaks, ashes, chestnuts to each side often covered in moss eventually we reached a type of plateau where we stopped for lunch, it was now much more open with rough moor land. After lunch we started the decent which followed the river mostly, the Najerilla, which had been dammed a number of times but was ...
