    Week 1 done! Day 7

A good friend often says, "Life no easy." And we would add "and neither is the Camino." We could also say, "The Camino is not for wimps!" We are constantly being challenged physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually! Day 7 started out well. We slept decent in our tent, had a more filling breakfast buffet at the hostel and our bodies felt stronger. We headed for Los Arcos by 7:30am. How can a day get any better than starting with a FREE outdoor ...

The feet looked and felt better after a great nights sleep. My hope was that I would put my hiking shoes on... Put them on and had to take them off... Not today... Socks and sandals. It's like warming up a motor ... It takes a while before the circulation gets going. Yesterday at the albergue about 6 of us were downstairs reading emails and suddenly from a sunny very warm afternoon, there was such a loud clamor, it sounded liked rifles going ...

I am told the eight sided lofty cupola is particularly notable and emblematic of the Knights Templar. Eight kms on, we come ...

As I put my feet on the floor this morning the White Snake song blasted through my head...here I go again on my own... It turned out the entire day was filled with songs popping in and out of my head.

I was looking forward to a short day today...only 21.1kms. I'd decided to savour this one because the next two days are going to be long with distances of 29kms and 30kms respectively.

After yesterday's heat I was so happy to see overcast skies ...

    So this is the Caminoo

Today is Sunday and finished 20 kilometers by noon today... Principally to beat the heat, but also because the Albergue (hostel) only has 27 beds...first come first serve. Yesterday's walk from from Roncevalles to Larrosoena was 29 kilometers of tough going...up and down all day...met up with a young Spaniard who had just graduated university and proceeded to run with the bulls in Pamplona and then walk the camino...that's a fun summer...after he got me lost I decided to ...
