Something pretty special happened last night. If you've seen The Way, you'll know that lots of people bring along a stone which has a special meaning to them, and they leave it at the Cruz de Ferro later on the Camino. Well I forgot, but as I went to bed last night I had a thought. At the bottom of my rucksack is a pair of light trainers with …

The alarm goes off at 6:30. Johnna is already up and organizing and repacking her backpack. Sue and I pop out of our beds and our routine begins. Bathroom, organizing, packing, taping our feet and knees and we are out the door before 8 AM. Good-bye Estella, we have enjoyed our stay with you.

We had decided to have our bags delivered to our new Albergue today, as yesterday was a hard slog & Alfs feet were starting ...

White asparagus is King in Navarra, and it's considered a delicacy and is relatively expensive. It has to be peeled to eat, so the larger size attract a higher price as there is more asparagus left to eat after peeling. It's boiled and preserved so it can be eaten all year, and to be honest, it's a bit on the mushy side for my ...

Last night i went down for the pilgrims meal and it turns out the festival in the main square was celebrating the fine ceramics and pottery from the area and Tapas! So no pilgrim meal, every place in the town had tapas. So when in Rome! I picked anything that looked like it was in the category of 'i have never seen that at home'. First up it was octopus, warm on skewers with a chilli or paprika. Very good. Then an octopus salad and then i got very brave ...
