ok, it was more "collecting a new country" than being really interested in Monaco. Strange, when you go there from Nice airport by bus it costs you 18 € one way, when you go from Nice bus terminal it costs 1 € one way. Monaco is a very clean city. I have never seen so many big and expensive cars. I saw the casino and the castle. Nice, but not spectacular.
Monaco, Monaco tilman... have an amazing view from Colline du Chateau. On saturday (November 28) we had sunshine and 19 degrees (end of November) and I was even swimming in the sea (15 gegrees), on sunday, November 29 we had rain and thunderstorms so that caused a delay of the plane of three hours. Best breakfast in town you find in "Les pains a tables" close to the market. Nice is a city I´d love to visit once a year minimum.....
Nice, Provence, France tilman... upon me it feels very strange and somewhat daunting. But to my knowledge no one has ever died from teaching children so I am sure I will survive.... My Amazon book order should arrive soon to inspire me. I am really looking forward to discovering the 100 things you can do with a paper plate. Life is never going to be the same!!
More when I start travelling...
... not limited by bus and train timetables. The other upside is that we are quite comfortably staying within our 50 Euro a day budget (25 Euro each) - yep that's fuel, food, the occasional wine or 3 out at a bar, entrance fees, the lot!! Downside of campervaning... it is a lot harder socialising and meeting other people. In a hostel this is easy especially if you are in an 8 bed dorm with a bunch of strangers. In a van you don't have this opportunity and most other vanners ...
Les Arcs sur Argens, Provence, France darrenhough74... at the Monte Carlo Casino. Mark was super keen on feeling like James Bond. He so wishes he was James Bond. It is kind of odd because once you are in the casino it is really quiet and not busy at all. Mark won about 300 euro so we were happy.
We checked out the start and finish line of the Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix, along with the famous hairpin turn. Even the locals fang it around that corner.
We headed ...
... French Riviera is all that its cracked up to be, absolutely gorgeous views, the water was so blue and clear, and relatively warm in comparison to Melb beaches, and had it been a few degrees warmer, we probably would have dared a swim. Ah well. There's always Barcelona! But seriously Nice is absolutely lovely, and apparently 17 and overcast here translates as not a cloud in the bluest sky we've ever seen, with sun shining.... life's tough aye...
With the lovely weather (in comparison ...
... out people. Although the rough tender ride was only 10 minutes, there were many unruly passengers pushing & shoving, and totally freaking out. I would hate to be in one of those things in a actual emergency. And then there were many (including our group) who enjoyed the little extra adventure (at no cost). Of course, everyone arrived to the ship safely and they all enjoyed their evening sharing their stories of the infamous tender ride.
Au revoir,
THE END

Cannes, Provence, France amanda_marmotte... to this place called Jimmy's. Well, after we spent an exhorbitant amount of money on a taxi, we found Jimmy's. The bouncer, who spoke English, informed us that Jimmy's had been closed for a YEAR. Are you really serious right now? He was pretty serious. So we just ended up walking around and getting stared at by French people. We tried to go into an Irish place, but there were about forty old guys watching rugby inside. Needless to say, we did not feel ...
Cannes, France aldanielle86... was nothing crazy like lines and lines of people (at least yet). We made our way from the station, down the main shopping street (also not super-impressive) to the Convention Center. Now, that was impressive. Here was the area where famous film stars grace the streets and millions of Euros in films and film rights are bought and sold. I got a glimpse of the famous "Red Steps." These steps are one of the main entrances to the black tie ...
