Mole National Park

I can now say I have been on an African Safari! We drove/four-wheeled for a little over eight hours today to get to Mole National Park, the pride and joy of Ghana National Parks. We had reserved rooms at the Mole Motel, the hotel inside the park and we were so glad we did becaues as we were opening the doors to our rooms, there were wild warthogs outside our door, literally 3 feet away from our walkway landing. Since we got in at around 6pm, dark was soon upon us and we had to sit down ad eat...

Mole National Park, 11/27 Miles Travelled: 18673 We have crossed into Ghana after leaving Burkina Faso. Due to some delays with getting visas, and a long process to cross the border, we had to bush camp for two nights on our way from Ouagadougou to Mole. Plus, with the lack of street signs, our drivers somehow ended up on the wrong road to the border and so we reached the border about 100 km away from where we intended. But, eventually, we did make it to Mole. It's nice being in an English-sp...

July 10 Day 10 Mole National Park to Ouagadougou,

We all got up early today to go on a Safari, with hopes of seeing elephants. Dave was lucky as he saw two elephants when he stepped out of his room. They were quite a distance away and by the time he had cleared the humidity off of his camera lens, they had moved out of sight. We met the guide and left for our Safari in the vehicle. Maybe we should have walked as he led us around and around without seeing that much. We saw ...

July 9 Day 9 Kumasi to Mole National Park

The next morning we had breakfast. Surprise, surprise, the breakfast was exactly the same as the previous five days! Menu items in Ghana do not differ from place to place. Maybe, they think that Westerners want eggs every day.

While we were eating breakfast, someone offered to wash the vehicle. Sanga paid the guy about $.80 and the Toyota Four Runner was cleaned and polished. We started talking to a cute guy with a lovely pink shirt ...

Its great to be in the English speaking country of Ghana. My French is almost non existant which means its hard to communicate even the easiest of things in some of the countries recently. Even the border crossing was bureaucracy free, almost.

The first major destination for us all here in Ghana is Mole National Park. Its major attraction is the Elephant herds. Day 56-Ghana, Mole National Park-Charging Warthogs

Up at 5:30 (remind me of this next time I ***** and moan about having to get out of bed at 8 for work!) I wondered off through the tall grass in search of a suitable pee spot only to discover that the place I had chosen was swarmed by what sounded like a million killer bees. Twisting and turning my head left and right waiting for the bites to come on my bare bum I couldn't see any but figured it best to buckle up and ...

Mole Mole Mole....

Oh where to begin... I can not tell a lie, I am currently back in Tamale and backtracking my last week or so since I seem to have lost my blogging mojo.... That being said, I will do my best to remember (and relay) events gone by. So, I will skip to Wednesday and work my way forward.... Convinced I could be a local, I got on my bike and attempted to make it to work in one piece. Were it not for a rogue (and highly irritated ...

Dream Rating: ; ; ; A Background We spent the day in Mole National Park. We all got up very early to go on a morning walking safari. The walk lasted about two hours on which we spotted some warthogs, baboons, elephants, antelope, birds, and a giant millipede. The weekend crowd had gone when we returned to camp, so I decided to splurge and get myself an air conditioned private room for about $22. I spent most of the day moving back and forth between the ...
