... Keva or "Kahva" as the local people say, almond, almond oil and saffron (if possible one could buy saffron from a place famous for saffron en route Srinagar, at around an hour before entering Srinagar one can see hoards of shops and outlets selling saffron or Kesar).
In the evening we explored the local market of Srinagar and enjoyed a ride of "Shikara" (the rates are mentioned on a board alongside the lake).

... with all the important buildings and open hand monument was boring and the rose gardens unimpressive and by the time we got to the shopping complex we'd had enough. The rickshaw drivers would all agree a price then demand more at the destination claiming we misunderstood them (when we blatantly didn't) with some getting pretty nasty. The beggars were also really insistent, not taking no for an answer and following you for ages, tapping on your arm and asking again ...

... outside rear compartment. I ran next to the bus slamming the panel loudly to convince him to stop. Frustrated by public buses, and their insensitivity, the group got together and organized a chartered minibus for the last 3 hour segment up the mountain.

The experience left me with a further understanding of the hardships these fine people face. At the same time, I now carry images of rural India and a friendship with 16 fun people.

... finished our nine and went up to the clubhouse, which was actually very nice. From there, we had a cold beer and a splendid view of our caddy taking a leak against the fence not 30 yards from the first tee box.

And with that, we were done. But please don’t let my sarcasm fool you, because we had lots of fun golfing. For the way back, we decided to skip the bus and splurged on a taxi. The next day we were off early to catch a bus for Dharamshala.
