    Before reaching Amsterdam, which is arguably the best known city in the Netherlands, we stopped for a short time in Utrecht. Being in Utrecht is like being transported back in time while keeping up to date with more modern infrastructure.     We arrived by train an hour early to be picked up by Antoinette, so had a stroll around the shops,(yes trying to find we didn't find any) but stopped in at the butcher to take a couple of shots for Jon and a Kaas shop.     Utrecht's a quick ride by train from Amsterdam, and as Ben had lived there for a month several years back, we decided it made sense to go visit. The weather today was much cooler than it has been, with intermittent light rain showers -- a welcome change of pace.

    ... want me to get any of the boots - most of them €30), and an upmarket department store. The department store had a novel way of advertising their shoes - I loved it (see the photos).
    I bought a Belgium road map this afternoon so we can plan the 4 days we have once we leave Utrecht and before we get to Paris. Sometimes the good old fashioned paper version is better than trying to plan a road trip using iPad screens!
