... Surrounded by the intricate cake like laciness of marble sculpture we walked across the rooftops between the turrets. We took many more photos. After realising that time was now getting short we then rushed down to the stairs, caught the metro back the 4 stops to the Hotel Maddison and walked to 300m to the train station - that's why we booked accommodation close to the station! You sure notice the big city once you have spent some time in rural countryside. This is how we felt but I think it is justified as everything here is extra large. First up is a viewing of Leonardo's "The Last Supper" which is very popular and tickets are booked out 3 months in advance. While waiting outside we ckeck over the street vendor's stall and come away with a T shirt, last supper prints and ...

Arriving in Milan late Monday afternoon left us no time for museums or churches, but we made good use of our evening exploring the Brera neighborhood, enjoying one last pizza, and wandering streets up to the Duomo -- for gelato from Grom and for last looks at the Galleria and extraordinary ...

    Day 41 - Mortara to Pavia - 34 miles

A travel blog entry by stuartkil on Sep 25, 2013

... It would mean a 28 mile day but would get me to a large town and I could have a rest day tomorrow. Made good time, covering the 28 miles in 9 and a half hours including stops.

Then things started to go wrong. My planned overnight stop, a hostel, couldn't be found. Asked around but no-one working nearby had heard of it. So off to the tourist office. Turns out that it was an office for ...
