... been the theatre. Loved some the stylish and creative clothes in shop windows and marveled at the vibrant feel of local people whose everyday lives happen in the old city. Went back to restaurant where we ate the night before to find my hat that I’d left behind.

Yep, another huge storm in the night but at least we finally woke up to sunshine. This causes for a celebration, banana pancakes with tea whilst listening to Jack Johnson’s song ‘Banana Pancakes’ what else?!

Getting back to Lucca is a good deal harder as we just miss a bus, the next one on the schedule never did arrive and when we finally get a bus it takes the scenic route back, such is life in Italy! Tomorrow we are heading to our farmhouse in San Gimignano, I really should have planned for more time in Lucca as we only saw such a small piece of it (and did I mention there is very good shopping in Lucca).

... really romantic. Wasn't a lot to do but I think this city is all about browsing round the little gift shops and relaxing in one of the many cafes with a nice glass of local wine or a coffee. It a slower pace of life in Lucca unlike the busy industrial cities

The small winery at the end of the day just topped of the day in my mind because we got to try local wine which tasted amazing and on the way back to Florence it knocked us out

... an Italian family took over the cruise and the mic ... It was game over in terms of potential sleep until about 12 am when they finally got kicked off the mic/ dance flo. I took a melatonin, and slept pretty well. Once in Italy we booked it to the train station from the ferry station. A 30 minute jog/ walk with 50 pounds on our backs in +37 weather at 7:30 am. We made it on time to all 3 trains thank god, mostly slept on them ...
