11.27.09 A Quicky, Sicky Day Trip To Pisa
So… Murray and I woke up this morning, both feeling a bit off (Murray again – me still). It is the WORST thing to be traveling when you're sick – and stomach stuff is the pits… We grabbed some toast at our hotel breakfast buffet, and ultimately, decided that we could power on for our planned day trip to Pisa – in retrospect, probably not a great idea!

Stayed at Affittacamere Patrizia Hostel in Rio Maggiore in Cinque Terre and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
When we got to the Hostel it was just an office and no one was there. Our keys were stuck to the door with instructions on how to get to our dorm room. There was another set of keys there too so we could have taken those too and ...
We are finally home and it is actually Nov. 20th. We finally got in last night around midnight and could not download anything for the last several days because WiFi is too advanced for the small town we were in. It was the most relaxing of all the ...
Cinque Terre, Italian Riviera, Italy lucy1279... market (without the sampling) with lots of lovery deli's, cafe's and patisseries. Ofcourse we had to buy the local pastry called a buccellato which is kind of a cross between a biscuit and a fruit loaf... yummy with the morning coffee.
Before too long Kim pointed out her favorite bar from last time and pull me in to join her in a wine or 3. The tapas were as good as Kim had ...
... an exciting time. I even had a chance to truly see the team rivalry when a Napoli fan crossed over into our section…brutal! I was even pushed in attempts to get this guy out of the stadium.
I visited a quality control center in nearby Prato. I was exposed to a number of tests performed on products before they were put onto the market.
I’ll update you soon,

... the markets. Bought a bottle of brunello and Melisa got some funky glasses then headed to the Medici Chapel. The girls were at their limit at that point so Michael and I wandered off by ourselves for a short time and had an incredible lunch without children. A man was just waiting for us to leave feeling giddy from the vino and good food and tried to sell us some amazing leather/suede reversible jackets for about a thousand US dollars. I'm sure they ...
Lucca, Tuscany, Italy barbwengler... stayed here for the afternoon and night as we really needed to make our way over to the coast. We stayed in this really bad excuse for a B&B but more of that when we get home........next whistle stop.....Pisa because we could not get accommodation anywhere else......
Lucca, Tuscany, Italy timandtoni... kids. It may feel like a throwback to 'simpler' times to those fresh from the States or one of the cities on the Eurotrip trail, but after spending time in Asia where people are living the 'simple' life without the help of the tourist trade, I couldn't help but gag on the supposed purity of it all. As I wandered through the quaintess, I kept thinking how wonderful it all must have been five years ago, before Rick Steves 'discovered' it and served it on a platter to the masses ...
Cinque Terra, Italy bootsmade4wlkin... marble that is more similar to the Michelangelo and is thus far less interesting than the famous bronze. Another room is full of action-packed Giambologna bronzes, some of which truly capture movement. My favorites are a scene of two men taming a bull, a centaur fight, and a horse that seems captured in mid-stride. George and I leave the Bargello and make our way to the beautiful, Moorish-inspired synagogue. Though built in the late 19th century, it is old-fashioned ...
