We got off to a fairly early start with brekkie on the terrace by the lake - just beautiful, but I did feel a bit off colour! Our bags are definitely getting heavier or I am just getting weaker. ... Hotel offers bikes for the guests to use so after breakfast we set off to explore Lucca on wheels. It was still quite early, so we pretty much had the small streets and lane ways to ourselves for a while. We found Piazza Anfiteatro which is the most famous, picturesque, round piazza in Lucca. ... and if it wasn't for his music Puccini would have been well and truly ostracised by the local Luccans! Wow, someone should write an opera about all this! Anyhow inspired by this I popped in to the nightly Puccini concert held in the Church that his family had been pillars of...until Giacomo came along by the sounds of it! ... book n thought not a 3 hr journey on the train system like this morning lets see if this will work. Train home in the dark hoping we were going in right direction. Water still over the road n parts. We have enjoyed staying at lucca, walk around at night, no one having dinner till after 9 , bike is main transport or walk, not a big tourist area either.
