... the actual site is closed to the public, an interpretation centre in the village includes a full size replica of the frieze. Nearby, we visited a famous abbey in Saint Savin, the medieval city of Chauvigny, plus the National Park Brenne, the towns of Le Blanc and Montmorillon. The hotel, the Relais de Lyon D'Or, is beautiful, we are in a house over a 1,000 years old, but the conveniences are fortunately more ...

We set off again at 13.15 for another "3 hour journey" to Bugue which is the town closest to the Eurocamp ...

Not a cloud in the sky today and the sun was intense from mid-morning onward. We walked into Airvault to visit the underground spring which served the town with water until the 19th century. We collected the key from the tourist office and let ourselves into the crypt like entrance and imagined how it must have been to have to collect water along with all the other townsfolk way back before the 12th century. The visit was short and next we went to the very large ...
