Well, the first week has gone pretty quick. I've spoken more Japanese in the last couple of days than I have in the last couple of years! It's been really fun. I thought that I would share with you some things that I have learnt about myself since arriving in Japan.
1. I am hopeless at reading maps. I always thought it was the Gregory's directory, but no... it's me. I have ...
... and had no idea what I could possibly do at that sort of hour, besides gamble on pachinko, I grabbed my book (which I had started & finished on the 12hr flight) and re-read all the good bits. By the time I had done that, showered and put the first couple of entries into my sexy new blog, it was time to gather my belongings that were strewn all over the tiny room and check out.
I left the hotel at about 9:30 ...
... bathroom, I feel like Alice when she kept growing and growing. I know I am not the tallest of women, but here in Japan, I am a GIANT!
I walked for hours yesterday. Mainly because I am hopeless at reading maps. I walked for about an hour yesterday, only to be told that the Noritake garden that I was trying to get to was a long way back in the opposite direction. *sigh* So off I walked and eventually, when I thought ...

... and told us about a festival which celebrates the autumn leaves. We told her the remaining cities we were going to visit and she starting giving us information packets about Osaka, Kyoto, and Hiroshima. I think she even gave us her only copies! That was so kind of her. Before we left, she took kindness to another level and gave us some post cards as a present! I've heard some stories about random acts of Japanese ...
Kawaguchi-machi, Chubu, Japan fxdacat... hard to get new furniture to make the classroom look new and different. Now, the children have to conform and wear a dry clean only uniform to school everyday. We did some fingerprinting using stamps, and some of the kids got it all over their faces and on their sleeves. The parents weren't very happy about that :op I also have to actually 'teach' them stuff this year. We have to use reading and math workbooks, which I'm ...
Nagoya, Japan schwate... weather this year wasn't very cooperative on days off either, but I managed to get a good window of opportunity one Sunday. For some reason, I thought it'd be worth trying to get to on a bike. Mind you, this was without a map of any kind, no previous experience in riding down towards Chita peninsula, and only a vague idea of where exactly the place was. Needless to say, the trip wound up tiresome and fruitless. Better luck next year? But, we did finally get ...
