... be nice and cozy and chilled out (like Pulau Weh, my last island, which was so wonderful)...but actually it wasn't. On the plus side, I had the beach all to myself most of the time and it certainly is a nice beach, but on the downside, well, I was alone most of the time, and the town wasn't so friendly. So I just spent two days on the beach topping up my tan (don't laugh) and reading two whole novels (okay so they were of the chick ...
Pulau Pangkor, Perak, Malaysia myriam_123... for the money that we were paying. Buffet breakfasts and dinners were included so we ate our way through the 2 days we were there for. As soon as we got there we chilled on the private beach and J and I took a romantic walk along the stretch :) There is absolutely nothing to do in the evenings, really a honeymoon sort of place, so when it rained the next day we decided to move on to Penang.
Pangkor, Malaysia sheenaangela... Kuala Lumpur (KL), this time on a dodgy 40 seater propellor plane, which was old & battered and god knows how it ever took off. It was a right pig, really dodgy, & all part of the fun i suppose! Not sure Dan would call it fun though - and we paid for the experience too - crazy!
Penang + Pangkor Islands, Malaysia adrian.gfc... Passed the rather crass temple and continued along a rough, narrow path around the headland. Twenty minutes later after fighting my way through the vegetation that had grown over the small track I descended to a mini 'deserted cove'. Wow!. Chilled for a while. Walking back sometime later got spooked big time by monkeys jumping around - damn these creatures. Back in the main village I sat at one of the roadside gaffs and tucked into the 'Fist of God' Forsyth - nothing ...
Pangkor Island, Malaysia rgw...... me out. Ton, my last travel companion has been good to me in providing a shield against all of this, and it feels so good to be able to share my feelings with my current travel companions, Chris and Sarah, who have also been on the road for a while, and who are also sensitive people. Travelling with a safety net, that is with other people, makes it ever so much easier, especially when the ...
Kuala Selangor, Malaysia bonnieWe are currently on holiday on a small island 30 mins off the coast of Malaysia. Its very hot and all we have done for two days is lay about in the sun. Can`t go back to England all white and pasty can we? We are getting close to the end of our funds. What started out as a large mountain of money from which fist fulls of money could be taken is now but a mole hill from which we can take only tiny ...
Teluk Nipah, Malaysia wsheard... As we are waiting outside we talk to a middle-aged German woman who has been backpacking for several months up and down the peninsular. She tells us about the rain forests up in Northern Thailand where real wild elephants can be seen in their natural habitat. She still has quite some time before she goes home but is intending to see more of the unspoiled parts of the country before she does. Our bus leaves on time, yet is a far cry from the VIP luxury we have been ...
Pangkor, Malaysia sarahmark... hanging out by our clothes, which made us uncomfortable. So we got out. We walked down the beach to try a restoran (where most of the other campers ate) but it was a big mistake. The service was slow, the servings were miniscule, and nothing was tasty. Ugh. We walked back along the road. The boys retired early, but Pat and I stayed out on the beach talking to Sandy and Kevin. To bed again after lights out.
Pangkor Island, Malaysia ahartry... a bodyguard. Eventually, the LA businessman decided to go back, and we went with him. Journal: After breakfast, walked 20 minutes or so to another beach. Swam for a while, then read and rested in the shade. Pineapple, bananas for lunch. Return in early afternoon. Walked to government camp restoran for dinner. Played card games afterwards. Pat and I stayed out for a bit, talking, then went to bed. Got up again when -- late -- Doug called us down to the beach for campfire and singing.
Pangkor, Perak, Malaysia ahartry... and had a terrifically marv-e-lo time. Pulau Pangkor is off the West Coast and about 140 km north of KL. Mommy didn't want us to go to the East Coast because it is supposedly expensive and dangerous. Anyway, last Wednesday, the 14th or so, Markus, Moshe, Pat, and I took a bus from KL to Ipoh. It was express, semi-air-conditioned, and only cost M$8! The trip was not overly exciting. Markus and I played a game of Othello and spent a long time talking about ...
