We left Nice this morning around 8 30 or 9am. I obviously was a tad bit nervous about driving again in Nice after our not so smooth landing on wednesday. Luckily Helga helped us out again and we made it to the highway without any trouble. We also think it was a better idea to wait until a lot of the rush hour traffic had passed. It was another very long drive back to Austria. It was beautiful sunshine for the entire drive which meant for perfect driving conditions. ...

... we got closer to Innsbruck they got bigger and bigger.

We went straight to the ski hill (Schlick 2000) to rent our equipment. Luckily the guy helping us spoke some English so it all went well! Once we got our tickets and equipment we headed up to the first gondola. And that’s where I started to panic a little. I hadn’t skied in over two years and this was not a little Glen Eden hill, this was the Austrian Alps!

I had a fabulous 2 week holiday over the christmas/new year period staying in a little village of Leutasch, part of Seefeld in Austria. I went with an Australian friend Roslyn, who I met on my Swiss ski trip last year. She is a radiographer and has been working in UK for about 12 years now and done some amazing holidays during that time.



The snow wasn’t fantastic and apparently still isn’t - not a good season so ...

... and the Krazy Kanguruh, however the slopes were a lot busier and also icier. Don't get me wrong - the skiing/boarding is still great.
On the other hand, the Lech side (Lech, Zug and Zurs) seemed to have the better slopes - wide, open, not too crowded, and much more powder.
So you really have to decide what you prefer more...

Time for us to leave. We loved our first trip to Bavaria and are already planning another visit. Next time we'll venture even further and try to see the surrounding countries and try to see how much faster we can go on the Autobahn...165 km/h is our record, but still far slower than the ...
