... I spoke to someone at the station. I decided to rent a car. Nancy, a Honda N One, for 8300 yen. I bought some food and comtemplated sleeping in the car overnight if could find a place to shower and charge my electronics. I ended up checking in at Hotel Hokuou nearby. ... the power to everything to conserve energy). Hurray for choosing your own hotel! The best part is the bed is actually comfortable, and the pillows aren't made of rocks. After some food at one of the ramen places in the station, it was bed time as there's lots of exploring to do tomorrow in the very big city of Tokyo!

We dropped off our Hachiroku rental car in the morning and left Yokohama to head to Tsukuba. The train wasn't one of the usual JR trains (no forward facing seats, no reservations, quite a bit smaller) as Tsukuba isn't quite as popular as the other cities - it's got a population of 215,000 opposed to Tokyo's 13.5 million. As it turns out, that means there isn't a whole lot to see in Tsukuba, so we hung out in the local mall until it was time to check into ...

... been to Odaiba twice before with Shigeki. On our previous visit, Norzin and Shigeki had taken us to one of the restaurants there overlooking the water. There was a fake Statue of Liberty there. We could now tell people that we had diverted the course and went to New York as well.

From Odaiba, we took a long monorail ride back to Shinagawa. All in all, it had been a pretty long day. We didn't return to the hotel till 5.30pm.

Final preps done and just relaxing today. Marc giving his last seminar. They are giving us a goodbye party this evening and heading home tomorrow. What a summer it has been and life changing too.
