... our budget. We thanked our driver and were so happy we gave him a very generous tip of almost £1.00!
The hotel is a very amenable place to stay and Orchha is a small town so is more laid-back than the other places we have visited although it still has its fair share of beggars and persistent shop owners. The majority of the beggars are Sadhus, Indian holy men who have renounced possessions with the exception of our cash! Actually they seem ...

... so it is encouraging to see this beginning to happen. Over and over the newly formed board is emphasizing the need to understand that the courses are not just for evangelism, but for believers and that they are by and for the assemblies specially. The 40 men here seem to be in the process of capturing that vision. Pray that during the next day and a half they would catch it wholly and and go home with a burning desire to see people studying the Word of God.
After 9 hours of travel (and this by 2 airplanes!) we arrived at the Catholic Centre being used for the all India ECS conference last night. We're thankful for a clean (even air-conditioned!) room even though there's no hot water. *sad face*
After a breakfast of curried eggs Jim and I went for a walk down the main street here, investigating and taking pictures. At one point we walked near a ...
... like people not siting in their allocated seat, screaming children and half the cinema empty whilst everyone was crammed into the cheap seats at the back! Great fun!
Tonight we're off on a night train to a town which is along the Ganges to experience some of river life! Not looking forward so much to the train ride with dodgy toilets and triple bunks but its all part of the fun of travelling here...and anything has to be better than a 14 hour coach joruney instead!
... with chai and a month old baby to hug and adore. I was asked to name this long and skinny brown baby but I simply couldn't. Instead I happily snapped away with the camera and promised D. (his proud father) I would seriously consider returning to Orcha for a month or two. D. was fed up of people just day tripping from the Kama Sutra temples. I could only half appreciate his disappointment. One of the reasons I loved ...
Orchha, Madhya Pradesh, India ladytonholidayWhile in this small village we stayed at the Ganpati Guest house. It was a clean budget option near the palaces. We then visited the Raj Mahal and Jehangir Mahal structures. These were homes to the Maharaja Man Singh and his decedents. They were the Bundela Rajas and ruled from the 16th century until 1783. These palaces were built along the banks of the Betwa River in Central India.
... The listing is quite extensive, so it may take you a little bit of time to go over each listing.

... train station for 2 hours but the train was running late and no-one else seemed concerned, no announcements were made, everyone just lolled around sitting in family groups on the platform for hours! Finally making it back to Bhopal, I went to the computerised reservation centre to try and get a ticket for later in the week. Everything was written in Hindi, so I joined a queue, after filling in the form, and was pushed into the ladies queue (which was largely made up of ...
Bhopal and Sanchi, India dynamite_dinah... my views on how legislative reforms, technology, inward investment and education might change the lives of Indians.... it was certainly an interesting debate. I've already started noticing a more materialistic lifestyle creeping in just in the last 12 months, with a huge increase in ownership of mobile phones (decent ones too!) and newer cars, motorbikes etc. We shared some 'breakfast' from a street vendor called poha - a mix of rice and crispy noddle things - possibly where my ...
