Day 52 - Taking a Break from Touring

We decided that today would be a great day to take a break from touring and play a round of golf. The weather in Ancona area was beautiful and sunny. The front desk at our hotel booked a tee time for 10:40 at the nearby Golf Club Canero only 20 minutes from our hotel. The golf course is nestled in a valley with views of many hilltop towns nearby. The course itself was in need of some TLC. The greens were slow and the fairway grass long but in the end none of it mattered ...

... We lunched at a restaurant near the harbour, and shortly afterwards an Italian tour group arrived who I think had 'done' the castle in about 5 minutes and wanted to eat. The leader had obviously not booked lunch and there was much discussion with the funny little lady running the restaurant as to whether they could all eat there and what they could have. They were then all ushered out, to take a group vote we think, and then ushered ...

There is a path that leads round the island among pine trees, from which run paths leading down to rocky bays and lovely views. Unfortunately no sun today, but it's not cold. We managed to get lost again on the way back. Apparently the islands have had rather ...

... which looked as if it had been transporting animals. We went for a short walk before supper to the village, which is mainly geared up for summer visitors and is now very quiet, but in our hotel there are about 20 English people who are on a Swim Trek, an organised holiday where every day they go swimming along the coast or between the islands. We were given the usual three course meal. I don't know why there aren't more fat Italians!

... others paced the road. They had on various states of dress. All very interesting. Our final destination is a delightful camp ground on the beach. The temperatures have dropped as have the prices of the campgrounds. From 30 to 40 Euros a night to 16! Good for us. The campgrounds are emptying out as the Italians go back to work and they tourists start to head back home. We might have it all to ourselves soon. Yeah ...
