And OFF we go again!!
It was a much more easier Goodbye to everyone on the UK this time, knowing it wouldn't be so long till we were back.
Got down to Calais the night before to make for an easy passage the next day on the Ferry which was very quiet and non-eventful.
We didn't head too far on our first night, it was quite late and driving on ...
I managed to fit in a quick day trip to Lens to see the Louvre outpost there and also connect with a doctoral student I met last summer. We met there, went to the Louvre, had lunch, and then walked to the top of one of "les terrils" and drank some champagne. It was a lovely day all around. I am fond of coal mining towns because of my own geneology. The town has preserved these large coal mountains as a reminder of the hard work and sacrifice of the coal miners.
... get to see, and I've loved every minute of it, it's slightly depressing to think that the adventure is over, but it's not really it's just starting.
Next adventure is in Cyprus for the wedding and it's going to be a very busy time for us as we still have to sort out wedding papers, outfits, bridesmaid dresses, flowers etc.

Wednesday was set aside for getting the van equipped and organized for travelling. We hunted down the local Carrefour and bought almost everything on our list: from cutlery (yeah! No more plastic from the plane) to sink stoppers and laundry soap. Having bought everything – which still took a couple of hours, we took it easy for the rest of the evening.
