    ... we pay them yet. Not before the convention, I suppose. The grape harvest started around Reims on the 14th. We could see the white vans on the hillsides of the Montagne de Reims (more the high hill of Reims, really, out across the valley). It took about 5 days to pick the hillsides that we can see from this side. I could't get any photos this year since the serious camera with the decent lens was stolen.     ... just on the vehicles and the actors coming up the street you would have thought you were in Reims in August of 1944 when it was liberated by the Americans!

    You would have also thought (as I have elsewhere thought) that we left a lot of stuff behind when we went home!

    Every vehicle was driven by and occupied by French people dressed in perfect period clothing - mostly uniforms, some nurses, some civilian clothing. It all looked perfect! ...

    ... doing so with a new, quiet and efficient pump. We are docked at the nautical club of Epernay with toilets and showers that close at 10 PM. It is now 5:15 so they have a bit less than 5 hours to have working toilets again! I’ll let you know how it goes.

    Tomorrow we will leave the Marne and go back up the Canal Lateral a la Marne to Conde sur Marne. We may stay there for a few days or we may just go on to Sillery and our winter mooring. ...
