Wongaling Beach Road Mission Beach, Queensland, Australia, 4852, 61-7-40888288/79024,-1800
We booked ourselves into a hostel down the road at Mission Beach that prides itself on relaxation. It has hammocks all around, a nice pool and is located in the rainforest, it also has no TV. Which is fine, until i realised we'd be there during the Ashes!! D'oh!! Mission Beach is a tiny place with some beautiful beaches, which again are inaccesible because of the stingers. We resolved ourselves to doing a lot of nothing whilst we were here, which may become a bit of a feature of Australia we ...

... very quiet town but a beautiful beach.

There was another path that led up to a view point, we decided we would take this path and have a look from the viewpoint before returning back to our hostel , we went past an Eco Rainforest Holiday home area, while we were walking through a few tree's we saw some almighty spiders each side of us in the trees! after trying to take a few photos we ...
Mission Beach, Queensland, Australia charlottemartin... hot now - must be 30 degrees plus - Wheewh! Back to the very hot car to see what else and went to Lake Tinaroo (don't think that's how it's spelt but haven't got the map handy!) Huge facility with water sports going on - most were laundching their own boats - felt too much out of it so back to the car for another explore. Time is marching on now and we haven't decided where to stay yet (!) Shouldn't be a problem ...
Mission Beach, Queensland, Australia gandsinoz... of Mission and we enjoyed visiting Coconutz bar, where the XXX Gold was flowing freely and they have a fine approach to internet access: they just pass you a laptop over the bar and ask you to settle up when you’ve finished. Lots of the bars have music and it’s clear that this is quite a lively place at times although our experience of it suggests that it is a long way from 24 hour raves.

There’s quite a strong art and craft feel to ...
Mission Beach, Queensland, Australia jenandtony... the come from Nottingham originally and have made a really excellent job of doing the place up. Wasn't sure about them and the place to start with but really like the atmosphere now. Planning to go up to the tablelands tomorrow - perhaps a motel for a couple of nights, or if not head for a beach side apartment in Palm Cove back where there's a bit more action. Sun is out now and beckoning - off to Tully today to see what we can find !
Mission Beach, Queensland, Australia gandsinoz... of the trip! As for Bedarra, the boys promise to take us there when they make the NHL.
The afternoon was spent trying out the new fishing rods and getting fishing tips from the locals.
As the title of this entry suggests, this was also the start of our mission to see a Cassowary bird in the wild. The same size (about) of its cousin the Emu, a Cassowary is a beautifully coloured creature with a "volcano on top of its head"(as described by Reid). It ...
Mission Beach, Queensland, Australia rbmom... cool day, and very weirdly we saw terri hatcher there doing the same trip as us! she wasnt in our boat, but a bit of celeb spotting! funny stuff.

the next day was the skydive, but first of all it was a lie in! loved it! after a bit of brekkie a group of us headed off in a van to the airport. i'd seen a few people landing on the beach the day before and it looked amazing! when we got to the airport there were a few of the pro's landing there and again it ...
Mission Beach, Queensland, Australia mikeetty... crazy enough we weren't allowed to take our cameras!). Our guide was great and told us all exactly what to do so we always felt safe. One of the best rapids in the morning was where there was a 45 degree slide and we did this really cool thing where we lay hanging out over the front of the boat, with our bodies still in the boat and slid down this rapid where of course we all fell off in hysterics. Going down head first was really fun because ...
Mission Beach, Queensland, Australia jimandnat... Perth Airport after returning from Asia and the manic journey that I had just completed behind me, I was more than excited about all the lovely things I could do. Hey, getting excited about an airport, isn’t that something?! Just using a normal toilet was a joy and being able go to the airport bar and order a decent glass of wine or a beer, not made from the untold chemicals and not fermented with rats tails or chickens feet, or some other grotesque manner that the ...
South Mission Beach, Queensland, Australia danhobson... Amazing - but fookin scary - I wouldn't have gone within a foot if it weren't for the fact I'd look a complete sissy in front of the two english girls who were staying here. They were of Asian origin and playing scrabble one night - at least I think it was scrabble - for the words I spotted were - Hipe, Coven and Gait. Maybe someone should tell them their primary school teacher may have been taking the pish. Not much beer tonight as the drinking ...
