... whales cruising through the water. The journey was paying off quickly with instant wildlife gratification! The huge black whales exposed their back and small dorsal fin every minute or so, occasionally spraying huge geysers of exhalation into the air. ... to the hotel. on the way to the midway we also explored park of the gaslamp quarter of san diego. originally lit by gas lamps, they are now lit by electric lamps made to look like gas lamps.

the afternoon was spent by the hotel pool and mucking about in it.

we celebrated our last dinner here at the rock cafe. a fun evening.

last minute packing in the morning and we'll be heading up to san diego airport to drop the car.
