... unrefundable, and to top it all off, she told us that we were at the wrong bus station!!
So, shaking our heads, off we went to the other bus terminal 2 kms away, got the right tickets and did the site! I hope you enjoy the pictures, they cost a bit more than they should have!!
We enjoyed this site, not only for its historic value, but for the fact that there were no "junk" ...
Una volata a Uxmal e poi ultime ore a Merida...
... corda. Qui il prezzo varia anche se l'amaca è singola, doppia, famigliare da 3 o da 5!!! Ovviamente ci hanno consigliato la famigliare da 3 perché:" prima sei in due, poi fai cuci-cuci-maya e serve da tre!!!". In uno di questi negozi ci intratteniamo a parlare con un ragazzo che, scoprendoci italiani, ci dice di avere il padre a Torino, che lavora per un'agenzia viaggi e tra 2 anni quando andrà in pensione gli lascerà il posto. Ci dice anche di essere stato a Firenze e Venezia e poi ...

... where we could eat. By the way, the Mexican siesta is no joke! In these towns, signs said places were closed between 1pm and 5pm during the week. Maxcanu is filled with taxi-tricicletas (I think that's what they're called), basically motorcycles with a covered seat attached to the front, like a pedi-cab. Astonishing! Because guess who's going flying if the driver has to suddenly brake? The passengers! Obviously no one in Mexico is too worried...makes you realize how ...

As it turned out, we managed to catch a Collectivo (passenger van) back to Merida, so didn't have quite as long to wait for the bus. In the station, some young people behind the desk turned the TV to a station with an English movie, so we did have entertainment! Best of all, it only cost us 45 Pesos each ($4.50) to go 100 km. You can't beat that!
