... was on exhibit in this aquarium, but was accidentally released down the very rock wall that I was staring at. The algae made its way into the Mediterranean Sea and has now infested it and choked out many native species. I felt that Cousteau must have been horrified by this accident, after everything he had done to pioneer marine conservation and education...this invasion was now part of his legacy. I paid my 13 Euro and when inside this grand building. It was my most favorite ...
Mediterranean Sea / Atlantic Ocean, Andalusia, Spain qgirl128... a morning nap when the wind and sea had other ideas for us, and we finally got under the bridge into the marina of Tomas Mestra at 4pm!! Not a pleasant time however the boat's been great through it all and we're really settling into living onboard.
And here we are finally (after a little too much motoring) at the end of the Med. We re-fueled in Gibraltar before crossing back to Spain. With the favourable exchange rate and tax-free status we were able to put in 262 litres ...
... and all.
We snooped around a little church that displayed several saintly skeletons from the 3rd century, and lots of soulful Madonnas.
This part of the world has some interesting mixtures of cultures. These hill towns were built to guard against the Moors, and so became obsolete around 1492. An aside about the cultural mishmash: Toledo has an Arabic looking building that looks ...
... just blasts everything away, granted this is probably slightly more painful then your normal facial. What a bloody laugh. As always even this wind blown little town has live up to our expectations of Spain. We have decided that if we don´t like Australia, Spain will probably be the place for us. Tomorrow Morocco and hopefully Marrakesh
Tarifa, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands dinoshona... Camping which is where we are staying. Apart from the odd hippy chic bar and what I've mentioned above, there's not much here. We quite like it that way but if you don't, don't come here off season. I've been sat by the pool reading for the past 2 hours, completely on my own. There is grass and quite a lot of shade, which is unusual in Spanish pools. A Spanish couple have just snuck in to smoke a joint, presumably they wanted to do it in private but decided I ...
Tarifa, Spain and Canary Islands 50odd... Spain: 1. The food here is the best. I like their steak, calamari, pasta, gelato and hot chocolate. And the chocolate cake in Barcelona was awesome (but still not as good as Gramae Jane's) 2. Aqualand and Tibidabo - their amusement parks are fantastic. 3. The Mediterranean, because it is warm and has lots of cool fish, and because it is a great color. Thing I would not do again in Spain: Nothing...I liked it all!
Tarifa, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands zolab... us and tries to convince us to take a taxi. He is very pushy and claims that 150 Dirham is the going rate. I tried to ignore him a few times and told him that 150 was too much. Eventually after much cajoling on his part, we started following him toward a cab. Kelly, being smarter than me, decided that this wasn´t a good deal and that we should look into a bus. I said fine, and told the man that we were going to take the bus. He got very upset and started screaming ...
Tetouan, Morocco natecropp... at intersections - it was a sea of people trying to get through all different ways. There was certainly a seedy element to the city and many touts hanging around. We went looking for a place for dinner, as recommended in our guide book, but we were getting lost again. A tout came up and asked what we were looking for, but we didn't give it away - he said if we were looking for a place to eat dinner that there was a nice place for dinner (noting that it would be in our ...
Tangier, Morocco glenn_christie5/21 - Hello My Friend How Are You? So I've figured it out. Whe na Morrocan in Tangier asks "How are you today, my friend?" he wants me to buy hash. When he asks "Where are you going?" he wants to be my guide. I love the order of operations. It goes something like this... 1) Hello, my friend how are you? 2) Where are you going? 3) Want hash? 4) Change please? I had more than a couple use that same talk off. They are pretty good ...
Tangier, Morocco jtafuroIt was a very full day yesterday. I managed to find the Palais Juan Hotel and discovered the Ravi Shankar film was to be shown at 10 a.m. I quickly went to the train station to buy our train tickets back to Tangier, went back to our hotel to get Yoong and we arrived just as the film was being introduced. It was an excellent documentary, in English, with plenty of samples of superb sitar music. The director was ...
