Spain and the Border into Morocco

Our first night was spent in Spain at a very nice campsite with Wi-Fi and hot showers, though the western toilets were void of toilet seats. The night was spent drinking loads of red wine and discovering everyone's names and backgrounds. We have 24 people total on the trip, six girls and 18 guys. Ages range from 22 to 60 and there are quite a variety of nationalities, though I am the only American. People are from the UK, Scotland, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Japan and ...

A STORY OF LOVES

... br><br>BRIDES: We had just been touring the inside of the Colisseum in Rome, our tour guide filling our imaginations with stories of might and gore and blood and fighting and victory and defeat. All very fantastic and vivid. So as we emerged back into the tourist plaza, I was busy as usual, finding the light, looking for the great photo, admiring the stone features of ancient Rome. I caught a glimpse of a white dress, and then another, and another. I looked into the ...

The Evil in Seville

... her feet the whole way, dry heaving when she sat in the car. I punched in Cadiz and drove with nauseous Carrie in the passenger seat. I had to take a pic. It was here that I got into a little run-in with another car as we bumped rear view mirrors. He was yelling at me and me, with my Foreigner Power, looked at him and said, "Mi Culpa" with an American accent and he shut up, stared at me, and then reached out and petted me ...

Back to Europe!

... talked about in a previous entry. Check it out, it's an oasis of peace: good food, organic drinks, excellent wifi, small alternative shop and healing/therapy rooms, all in the centre of pretty Tarifa, a few minutes walk from the port. But the journey does end here, far from it! After my little break I will start driving and head towards Barcelona, where I'm hoping to get in two / two and a half days time, so by the evening of ...

... rooftop terrace which i will no doubt be out on tonight meeting some new people! I really liked Tarifa, probably because of the relaxed coastal vibe. It was so wierd walking into all the surfing shops and seeing the Quiksilver store and thinking wow, i cant believe that something from back home in Torquay has now got outlets in places like Spain! i felt like asking them for a discount!!! I am in love with the Mediterranean and especially the south here is ...

... them. So even though I was at the cave entrance, I didn't go in, preferring instead to buy a bottle of Bushy's ale, made in Scotland's Isle of Man from hops grown in Gibraltar. It was a silly expenditure, but it really hit the spot. Oh, and about the monkeys. I didn't realize it beforehand, but Gibraltar is crawling with macaque apes and that's one of the big tourist draws. Ever since India, I don't trust monkeys, and considered having someone take a picture of me flipping one ...

Tarifa to the Jungle

... and it was an amazing view. He pointed out the Mosque, Church, and Jewish sector that were right next to each other (see the photos). We sat and drank tea with him while he showed us the carpets he had for sell. They were all beautiful and obviously hand woven. The tea was just boiled water poured over tea leaves, but it tasted amazing. Julie wouldn´t drink it, which I thought was extremely rude, but the man didn´t seem to notice. I bought one of the rugs and told him that we had to ...

The Beginning

... I felt so prideful that the cut meats, hanging chickens, or even the pig's feet didn't faze me. I have seen it all I thought, well, right about then I met eye to eye with a sheep's head.... skinned. I just about threw up right then and there. I made it out into the fresh air in time to catch my stomach. After our lovely trip to the market we visited a woman's center. We saw them weaving, learning Arabic, and sowing. We enjoyed Moroccan tea ( light mint flavored) and cookies ...

Tangier

... I said America and he replied "Oh, America! I have a friend in Colorado." As well as he saw through me, it was obviously he doesn't know anyone from Colorado and just uses states when talking to Americans in order to make us feel more comfortable with him. At this point, I realized this guy was working for someone for commission so I let him lead me wherever it was. He said it would cost me 7 Euro so I said ok. The place he took me with disgusting but I through my bags on the ...
