Sometime this morning we could see very distant mountains through the haze and they have very gradually drawn closer throughout the day.     Today we decided to be kind to ourselves and depart from the guidebook, spliting the next stage into two days. It would have been grueling otherwise: a 12 mile trek with 3000 feet of elevation gain. Instead we we had just a three and half hour walk to our next destination.
