... can describe what you see, when driving. The towns, the villages perched on the mountain side, the streams running along side the road side. The old house and church here and there, it was unbelievable. To feel free and be away in clean air is wonderful.
On this side the trip to Turin wasn't too long which was good.

Today was the last official day in the Aosta Valley. I am leaving the castles and snow tomorrow. I saw some pretty impressive fortresses today and met lots of nice people. Great surprise, As I was walking through Donnas, one of the men that I met in Monjovet was riding by on his bicycle. He turned around, came back to me just to say hello and good journey. Then he was off again. I did spend some time in Moses mode today as well. There were parts ...

I thought that I had ordered pasta with mushrooms but instead I got TWO steaks with mushrooms. Guess I needed protein. ...

I am using the "Official Guidebook" to the Via Francigena. It uses all kinds of abbreviations like FP for footpath or KSO for Keep Straight On. But I could figure out VS until today. Very nicely said, it means "Very Steep". Could also be translated to "suitable only for goats", "am I in Spain" or "I should have trained harder". I thought that I was set for another very comfortable day like yesterday. I was over confident at best. ...

    Aosta to Fenis

... a good investment. Families planted one when a child was born because it would provide wood for furniture, nuts and pressed oil when the child grew up. Italians are now rediscovering the unique flavor that walnut oil adds to local specialties. I am staying a nice hotel in Fenis tonight. The people are lovely and the room is comfortable. I had nice lunch and will relax for the rest of the day. Today is the 70th ...
