... funny to watch. The other variation is to run up to a random person, touch them and say 'tag your it' and then just run off... the looks on the random people's faces is priceless!
Its amazing what you think of to kill time when your stuck on a boat!! But what european ferry isn't complete with out a room full of pokie machines! On the way to the bathroom i passed this room with a handfull of change i wanted to get rid of. Luckily the odds were in my ...
... be old friends and some English conversation. So now I can tell you my travels took me to the Autostrada in the direction of Bari, it looks a long way on the map, Mappy.com tells me it's some 700km, my brain reads 700 miles, I am very surprised when I stop for a break, check my location and I've already done one third, takes me a while to work out my error. At 10pm I stop at a service 100km from Bari and set about preparing my supper. I cook my pasta ...
Bari, Puglia, Italy laineebee... written 6 months later, so we may
have forgotten some bits!)
After loving Venice all over again (which meant we ended up staying another day after Karenīs birthday) we hugged the east coast of Italy to venture further south than we had done back in May or when we were here in the old campervan 11 years before. We passed by Ancona and Pescara to the Gargano Peninsula ...
... Another nice town was Ruvo but unfortunately it was raining so we could only drive around. I had read about the small but impressive cathedral, so Jonathan and I both stuck our heads in for a look. For once, the Italians weren't embellishing! We went to visit Castel del Monte, an imposing castle in the middle of nowhere. Architecturally the building was very interesting ...
Andria, Italy clubofsky... Parking doesn't appear to correspond to any sort of order or rules. There isn't a single tourist around (hey, that's a good thing, right?) and the infrastructure isn't the least bit set up to cater to them. The centro storico is dirty, sun-baked and baffling to get around in, and an awful lot of police seem to be lurking around waiting for something bad to happen. But at the same time, that same old town is fascinating to wander ...
Bari, Italy xeriusToday was just a travel day. We left Sorrento at 10:00 AM for the ferry port in Bari. We watched a couple movies on the bus, but for the most part the day was uneventful until we got to the port. Our boat was scheduled to depart at 7, but didn't leave until well after 8. Had dinner on the ferry..buffet style..yuck...9 Euro too! We watched the sunset before we left the dock ...
Bari, Italy srb013... blackened and plastered rooftop That must have certainly been stolen From somewhere. The leftover rubble of some Unimportant civilization. I must be invisible to the dogs, Which is fine by me. They seem only interested In the adventure Of secrecy. And continue to look behind them As if being followed. A Winded-man then Enters the greenery, Shackled with two leashes, Whistling.
Bari, Puglia, Italy tahazen... b/c I figured I'd meet some other travellers and also be able to lie down in case of a rocky ride like the one from Naples to Palermo. However it was surprisingly a smooth ride. And I had the dorms to myself. Not a single other person bothered with it. NICE. The ferry itself was pretty cool, and gave the Naples-Palermo one a run for it's money. It had an escalator just to get in (swank!) and a silly little disco floor, a 'casino' area, 2 ...
Bari, Italy ashygagThis town wasn't in any of my travel guides but it was a great place. Cheap and delicious food, very helpful travel agents, and an old quarter to die for. There were lots of old churches, some of which were turned into apartment buildings. This town gave me a real taste of Italy...and on my last day too! Check out the sunset and the alleys!
Bari, Italy austintwohigI made the move, and have decided to try and make my way to Greece, namely Crete. Spending the last days of my trip lounging on the white sandy beaches of the Greek Isles doesn't sound like a bad way to cap off the trip. There were other things involved in the decision making process, I must admit, namely the girl I flipped over in Morocco. V. She sent me an email yesterday ...
