    ... It took ten minutes to cross the causeway. There were many resorts, akin to Cancun, Brys. As we were running late, we went directly to the caleche place, arriving at 1710. It was windy on the island. Stupid Hugh accidently kicked an adorable white, playful puppy.

    The Hotel Djerba Palace was huge and busy with a combination of locals and by and large French tourists. We had porters, placating some. There was only wifi in the lobby and even that was fleeting. Uploading ...

    ... stuff” to the tourists. This ksar was not nearly as nice as the first ksar and I quickly wanted out of there. I did, however, find a rather unique item: a stone and brass set of scales that looked like the scales of justice. Perfect for my office.

    I grabbed a couple cold bottles of water, jumped back in the car and we drove off through the outer town limits before reaching the coastal lowlands that would lead to the Mediterranean and a short ferry ride to the island ...

It is quite a crowded place famous for its Fort dating from Roman & mediaeval times & its old Jewish Synagogue which apparently is a place of pilgrimage.     Day 9 & 10

    The following morning we headed towards Djerba, a tourist island near the Libyan border. The roads were good, and after a short ferry trip costing only 0.800 TD (Less than R5) for all of us plus Corrie, we arrive on the island around midday.
