Up at 6:30am to be ready for our pick-up to the airport. We tried to empty as much of the fridge as we could but we still ad to throw a bit out although Fiona did mange to squeeze the last of the Chocolate Fudge Cookies into her bag.
Our taxi driver Fidel was waiting outside at 7:45am and drove us to the airport where our plane had been delayed …

It was a great experience to discover Hawaii. I cannot wait to come back there!

Arrival day

A travel blog entry by salmorton01

A good flight from Sydney to Honolulu departing Sydney at 6pm on Friday and arriving in Honolulu at 6am the same day. We both managed to get a bit of rest on the plane which was just as well as there were no free movies and food was very ordinary. Jetstar certainly doesn't provide anything fancy. All very basic and you only get what you pay for. < …

Day 18 – Island Hopping

On our last day on Maui we left the cozy Tea House Cottage (where we had a visitor staying over last night, a cute cat who talked a lot and seemed to be quite ahungry one). We also had some time to walk around Paia, a small surf town, before heading to the airport. This time we weren't so lucky with the airplane as it was much bigger than the …

Day 19 – Make it an IHOP day

Yes, we did. The whole trip we have been dreaming to taste the fabulous grinds and atmosphere of IHOP. Today we decided to make these dreams true. Maija had Bacon and Cheeseburger and I went with Chicken Clubhouse Super Stacker. Amazing service and relaxed atmosphere was evident in this senior friendly restaurantJ I was unlucky to notice too late …

    Great Stay at the Miramar

    from anonymous

My husband and I spent two weeks at the Miramar from the middle to end of January 2004. It was our first time at this hotel and we will definitely stay there again. We had booked a superior room (includes wonderful free breakfast buffet) and upon checking in, found they had upgraded us to a deluxe room. The room was a good size, clean and comfortable, with a lanai overlooking the pool area.

We loved the location next to the International Marketplace and just a short walk to the beach. There was a lot to see and do all within walking distance. We could also catch The Bus directly across the street if we wanted to go a little further and tour pickups were right in front of our hotel.

I would certainly recommend the Miramar and can't wait for our next trip back!!

    Reasonable and great location

    from anonymous

My wife and I spent 10 days from 12/13 through 12/23/03. No frills, clean, very good breakfast buffet daily. Center of action in Waikiki.

Plenty of shopping, restaurants, one block from beach, lots to see and do. They upgraded us to an ocean view on the 17th. floor. I would go back there again.

    Loved the Hotel

    from anonymous

I have stayed here both times I have been to Waikiki and I have been very pleased both times. The food is great and the front desk personnel are always friendly and willing to help you in any way. The rooms are clean and the location was perfect, right next to the international market only a couple footsteps away from the beach. I definently recommend this hotel.

    Our Home in the Islands

    from anonymous

We have stayed at this hotel twice a year for the last 20 years. And we LOVE IT. Great location, hotel has just been completely remodeled, and the nicest staff around. We have stayed at all of the expensive hotels, and we always come back to the Miramar. We call it our home in the islands. Thanks and Love to all of the staff, at our home in the islands.Linda & Pete

    Great Hotel !

    from anonymous

I stayed at the Miramar twice already (1995 and 2002). It has a great location, clean rooms, really good service, friendly people at the front desk, a nice pool, and a very satisfying breakfast. The second time was for our honeymoon, and we got 2 bottles of champagne instead of one :)We are going back to the Miramar in December 2003.

Loved the Miramar Hotel - Oahu

    from anonymous

Visited Oahu July 27 - August 8. Stayed at the Miramar which was a block away from the beach and right next door to the International Market. We chose the Deluxe rooms which gave us a beautiful 180 degree view of the island. The street that the hotel is situated on - Khuio is a lively street. Everything that you would need is within walking distance. We walked to each different restuarant every night. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast buffet at the hotel every morning.

We expected the usual continental breakfast as other hotels offer but the Mirarar offered a wonderful buffet. The hotel staff were very friendly, the room was cleaned every day. The only surprise we got was the $10 charge for a 1.5 minute call home. Loved the Miramar, loved the island, will definitely go back to the hotel. - Sue R.

    Mirramar

    from anonymous

A great central location and good for families. The service was lacking. We were travelling with small children and were put in a room with only 2 single beds instead of two double beds as booked.

    It was Okay

    from anonymous

My Family was looking for a Hotel near the beach and The Breakfast Buffet was a plus. When we got to the Hotel they had the wrong room for us so we had to wait for a room to be cleaned, the view was oaky, the city is pretty at night. We had a prtl ocean view, ( Dont bother, ) If you leaned out the lani you could see the water. There was a charge for the in room Coffee as everything else in Hawaii. Spending money was easy to do, Milk was $7. a gal. Gas was $2.10 a gal. everything was high. The tour guides are trained to milk you for money. There was Hookers out side most Hotels at night, Homeless everywhere. Oh, The Breakfast Buffet, they served Rice, Salad, Pork n beans and spaghetti, But they also had good coffee and scrambled eggs, a little fruit. I would never stay there again, I know now there are better deals. Next time I will go to another Island, Less people. I'm glad I went, it will be my first and last time.

    Very Good Deal

    from anonymous

My family (2 adults, 3 kids) stayed at the Miramar in July 2003. We had 2 rooms that connected, which was very convenient. The rooms were very clean and neat and room service did a great job. There was not much view of the beach at all, mostly a city view. However, this was not a problem for us, because we were on the go most of the day. Front desk service was excellent at all times. Our package included free breakfast each morning for 2 per room, which was a big savings, and the breakfast buffet was very good. We were just 2 blocks from the beaches, but we prefered to go to the east side of the island for beach time to escape the crowds. There were plenty of fast food and dinner restaurants within walking distance. The pool was nice, and they had a a large pooldeck for sunning and also a counter with drinks and snackfoods for sale. The hotel lobby opened up to the International Market, which was a great place to shop for our souveniers. The only drawback was that the area was extremely busy and a bit noisy at times in the late evening. Miramar is an excellent value - the prices were very good and we would definitely stay there again.

    Good deal for the money

    from anonymous

I had a great time at this hotel. I was looking for a great deal and got one. The superior room is the way to go ocean view, newly remodel, and a breakfast included. Staff was very friendly and it was just a little walk to the ocean, and the hotel connected to the market place , little stands to buy trinkets. Good deal for the money
