Great Stay at the Miramar
My husband and I spent two weeks at the Miramar from the middle to end of January 2004. It was our first time at this hotel and we will definitely stay there again. We had booked a superior room (includes wonderful free breakfast buffet) and upon checking in, found they had upgraded us to a deluxe room. The room was a good size, clean and comfortable, with a lanai overlooking the pool area.
We loved the location next to the International Marketplace and just a short walk to the beach. There was a lot to see and do all within walking distance. We could also catch The Bus directly across the street if we wanted to go a little further and tour pickups were right in front of our hotel.
I would certainly recommend the Miramar and can't wait for our next trip back!!
Reasonable and great location
My wife and I spent 10 days from 12/13 through 12/23/03. No frills, clean, very good breakfast buffet daily. Center of action in Waikiki.
Plenty of shopping, restaurants, one block from beach, lots to see and do. They upgraded us to an ocean view on the 17th. floor. I would go back there again.
Loved the Hotel
I have stayed here both times I have been to Waikiki and I have been very pleased both times. The food is great and the front desk personnel are always friendly and willing to help you in any way. The rooms are clean and the location was perfect, right next to the international market only a couple footsteps away from the beach. I definently recommend this hotel.
Our Home in the Islands
We have stayed at this hotel twice a year for the last 20 years. And we LOVE IT. Great location, hotel has just been completely remodeled, and the nicest staff around. We have stayed at all of the expensive hotels, and we always come back to the Miramar. We call it our home in the islands. Thanks and Love to all of the staff, at our home in the islands.Linda & Pete
Great Hotel !
I stayed at the Miramar twice already (1995 and 2002). It has a great location, clean rooms, really good service, friendly people at the front desk, a nice pool, and a very satisfying breakfast. The second time was for our honeymoon, and we got 2 bottles of champagne instead of one :)We are going back to the Miramar in December 2003.
Loved the Miramar Hotel - Oahu
Visited Oahu July 27 - August 8. Stayed at the Miramar which was a block away from the beach and right next door to the International Market. We chose the Deluxe rooms which gave us a beautiful 180 degree view of the island. The street that the hotel is situated on - Khuio is a lively street. Everything that you would need is within walking distance. We walked to each different restuarant every night. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast buffet at the hotel every morning.
We expected the usual continental breakfast as other hotels offer but the Mirarar offered a wonderful buffet. The hotel staff were very friendly, the room was cleaned every day. The only surprise we got was the $10 charge for a 1.5 minute call home. Loved the Miramar, loved the island, will definitely go back to the hotel. - Sue R.
A great central location and good for families. The service was lacking. We were travelling with small children and were put in a room with only 2 single beds instead of two double beds as booked.
It was Okay
My Family was looking for a Hotel near the beach and The Breakfast Buffet was a plus. When we got to the Hotel they had the wrong room for us so we had to wait for a room to be cleaned, the view was oaky, the city is pretty at night. We had a prtl ocean view, ( Dont bother, ) If you leaned out the lani you could see the water. There was a charge for the in room Coffee as everything else in Hawaii. Spending money was easy to do, Milk was $7. a gal. Gas was $2.10 a gal. everything was high. The tour guides are trained to milk you for money. There was Hookers out side most Hotels at night, Homeless everywhere. Oh, The Breakfast Buffet, they served Rice, Salad, Pork n beans and spaghetti, But they also had good coffee and scrambled eggs, a little fruit. I would never stay there again, I know now there are better deals. Next time I will go to another Island, Less people. I'm glad I went, it will be my first and last time.
Very Good Deal
My family (2 adults, 3 kids) stayed at the Miramar in July 2003. We had 2 rooms that connected, which was very convenient. The rooms were very clean and neat and room service did a great job. There was not much view of the beach at all, mostly a city view. However, this was not a problem for us, because we were on the go most of the day. Front desk service was excellent at all times. Our package included free breakfast each morning for 2 per room, which was a big savings, and the breakfast buffet was very good. We were just 2 blocks from the beaches, but we prefered to go to the east side of the island for beach time to escape the crowds. There were plenty of fast food and dinner restaurants within walking distance. The pool was nice, and they had a a large pooldeck for sunning and also a counter with drinks and snackfoods for sale. The hotel lobby opened up to the International Market, which was a great place to shop for our souveniers. The only drawback was that the area was extremely busy and a bit noisy at times in the late evening. Miramar is an excellent value - the prices were very good and we would definitely stay there again.
Good deal for the money
I had a great time at this hotel. I was looking for a great deal and got one. The superior room is the way to go ocean view, newly remodel, and a breakfast included. Staff was very friendly and it was just a little walk to the ocean, and the hotel connected to the market place , little stands to buy trinkets. Good deal for the money

... other visitors being taught how to hula and visiting the markets there, it was time for dinner. It was a buffet, with odd things like taro bread and coconut jello. The evening show featured hula dancing, singing, drumming and even flame dancers who performed with ignited juggling pins and sticks. They performed traditional dances from Samoa, Tonga, Tahiti and even New Zealand - So I guess we came all the way to Hawaii to see a haka! The entire experience reminded me of ...

We continued further up the coast to again hunt down our turtle friends and enjoy other parts of the island. We found turtles on the beach relaxing and snoozing along with more of them in the water. We felt strongly that Tasmania is going to have to find sympathetic ways of utilizing and protecting it's natural environment ...

I told him to leave it and we will fix it when we get home, he had personally preordered the parts and the work to be done and was then going to ask Coles his insurance for the money back, I said good luck with that. Anyway he was giving me the info and was stressed out completely but couldn't find the email and asked to call back in half an hour. When I told Andrew he agreed with ...
... in it and the worse thing is the view of skyscrapers (mostly hotels) surrounding the beach. We agreed that we had seen much nicer beaches during our trip. We honestly donīt have a clue how the neighborhood of Waikiki gained its fame around the world. Most likely people keep relating it to something more exclusive as it was once a playground for Hawaiian royalty. Who knows?
Basically we said goodbye to Oahu through Waikiki. Originally we planned to spend 10 days in ...
