    A few weeks ago now , we decided that we needed to seek out the last bit of summer sunshine we exiled ourselves to Italy's version of Rottnest .....Isola d'Elba

    ... with protection. Last day and up to brekkie early so we were near internet and could watch the Tigers play in their final. Wish we'd stayed in bed ........useless lot. After and we walked a few km to the next little village and back. Then down the 60????steps to the 'beach'. Hahahahahaha!!!'     ... heartening, even inspiring, to note that wherever we go, when we say we are from Australia, (...damn, that took 3 attempts to even spell it correctly...hate this bloody iPad..) the look on their faces changes instantly, and suddenly they relax, and beam, and almost without exception, everyone says " oooh, one day I want to go to Australia....." genuinely....)

    ... side of the peninsula, the walk was not quite as impressive as it seems, flat and not that hot today. Usual Italian beach except did have more public, vs rented, space than many.
