... Pietracuta isn't really that special--as I find out later it's just a frazione of the Communi di San Leo--so I'm missing the "heart" of this town. Oh well... today San Marino is my priority. I head west, pausing for a video clip with a narrow cultivated valley and a dense forest on yonder ridge with a castle on the top. It is tempting... Around the bend, in the middle of a wheat field it is... two arches are all that remains of a ancient aqueduct. ...

... final touch to my Day of Discovery in San Marino… So I head on back to Dogama, and back on the bus to Rimini. I didn’t explore every single town in San Marino, but with 6 towns in a country of 25,000 I think I can safely say that I have “Thoroughly Explored San Marino”… …But at the same time, I might want to come back here some day, just for fun… and I can explore the remaining 6 or 7 villages… Hello and Goodbye, San ...

... dictatorship was the only period since the Roman Empire that Italians were truly united with a strong sense of nationalism…” I had to ponder on that response for a long time. It seems to be a theme I’ve seen all throughout Italy, this sense of a fragmented country where people feel they have little in common with each other. Italy has been a united nation for only 150 years, which is nothing compared to say, France, Spain, or England. I guess ...

... town. Here I take a break from the boardwalk and head down for a barefoot hike along the endless beach. Darkness is setting in, but I have nothing to worry about... I've already done my Balleria video clip and I don't have to think about missing the last train... I'm going to walk to my hostel in Rimini. Once it's dark I can safely leave my guitar and camera on a rocky tide breaker and float out into the water for a magical nighttime swim. ...
