... with success. No matter, there was always a Caipirinha waiting back on the lounger to which I retired, once again a bit battered by the waves. Despite my lack of success I could see how this could be an addictive sport. It's fresh, fun and hip. It's great for the fitness (there are NO fat surfers) and you're out there taking on nature. Once you've got a board there's no further expense..the waves are for free. What a great way to exercise and to clear the mind. Back at the Pousada ...

... it was possible, I now had had even less success. It was just all one big battle with my board and the waves. Bruised and battered I gratefully retired. Clearly there was more to this surfing than meets the eye! We had a lovely evening in Pipa. Being a Friday night it was really busy ...

Do and I jogged over to a quiet spot of thicker sand and laid out a 50 m track. Here we dashed up and down working up a serious sweat whilst the Dolphins looked on. Significantly out of breath we dived into the water to cool off before doing some situps, ...

... glad to have gotten out there. Tomorrow we'd continue the fit blitz with sprints on the beach at low tide. The lady at our Pousada recommended a local Italian restuarant for dinner. We'd actually only eaten Brasilian food the whole holiday so decided that it'd be great to try something else. So off we set for 'Pan e Vino' for what turned out to be a truely fabulous meal. Delicious Bruschetas, Gnocci, Spaghetti and Ravioli, all washed down with ...

Arrived in Natal in time for Mexico vs. Cameroon

... thanks to a goal from our friend Graham Zusi on the USA team, it put Mexico through and knocked Panama out! The Mexico team got raked over the coals in the press and with fans, with people stating that it is a miracle that Mexico is through and it was not because of the Mexico team. It is USA we have to thank. From that point on, throughout Mexico Zusi was deemed "San Zusi" (Saint Zusi). So all of us wore tee shirts that said "San Zusi" on the back and had ...
