... an Indian, people wearing little clothes, and was shown grilling people's decapitated heads. Of course Europe had plenty of buildings, finely clad people, culture, etc...
During WW II, on March 16, 1945, Wurzburg was heavily bombed and it pretty much devastated the city. In order to reconstruct the Residence, photos taken by a Nazi officer were used.
Along with the Residence and a large fortress ...
... thing I did notice were the German "rest stops". Unlike those we know in the US, these are simply pullovers and nothing else. Nothing else except men peeing along the side of the road, in broad daylight. Come on Germany- Let's invest in some restrooms! At least one of those McClean pay ones would be an improvement.
Bad Kissingen, Bavaria, Germany trockie... our shore passes and the boat was about to leave with out us. We were running along the water's edge yelling and waving out hands. One of our new freinds was taking pictures of us being idiots which I will post another time. Basically I am blaming everything on Sheila.
Miltenberg, Hesse, Germany premiertravel We were taken to the palace of the Prince-Bishop. It reminded me of a smaller version of Catherine's palace in St. Petersburg, where one room flows into the next, each one more opulent.
The temperature is in the 40's and windy. Prior to our trip all sources indicated it would be in the 50's and 60's. Oh well.

... for the witch hunts in the Middle Ages. Two hundred men, women and children were burned at the stake in this town. I walked along the waterfront and returned to the ship.
After dinner a local band performed in the lounge. They played a variety of music and were very entertaining.
Got up early again today in order to see a glassblowing demonstration. We’re docked at Wertheim (established in 1170), noted for its glassworks. Besides artistic glass, Johns-Manville has a fiberglass factory and Owens Corning has a fiber optics plant. This is a small town of 6000 with many 13th and 14th century buildings. There is an old castle on the hill but ...
Wertheim, Baden-Württemberg, Germany tucsonjohnAt Bamberg we left the Danube-Main Canal. The canal was completed in 1992 and allows ships to travel from the North Sea to the Black Sea. This connection had been dreamed of since Charlemagne tried digging one in the 8th century. Another attempt was made in the 1800s but the advent of the railroad doomed it. It took 20th century technology to make it possible. The canal itself has 34 locks out of the total of ...

It was unfortunate that the Imperial Hall was all covered up undergoing preservation, since this is the culmination of the magnificent sequence of rooms of the palace. It is worth noting that most of the palace was destroyed during the Second World War when British ...
