... that turned into an avalanche. It was a fairly big one but we were safe as it was on the other side of the mountain, so it didn’t hit our train. It was really, really cool to watch.

We awoke to more fog and rain so we decided to explore a little town 20 minutes from our chalet, go swimming and hang out in Wengen. We found a waterfall, cute town homes and vegetable gardens on our exploration. Wengen is a car free town so many grow what they can since supplies are expensive or one has to go down the mountain to shop.

... a few things to be ticked off my list to see and do in Switzerland. One is to reach the summit of the mountain Jungfrau (which the locals call the 'top of Europe’), see the famous subterranean waterfalls that Lord Byron immortalised in his poetry and also tackle one of my biggest fears, taking a skydive from a helicopter. We walked back to camp, got changed out of our jeans cuz it was way too sunny for them, and then walked into the Main Street to the cafe that provides free wifi so we could tell everyone of our accomplishment! ... soup and Slasher had a risotto. Not wonderful, but the owner is an ex-South African and she was very friendly, so we were happy.

Still raining! The valley is in whiteout mode and apparently the rain is forecast to continue. We have checked out long range forecasts for France and Germany, so looks like,we will have to,get used to it. Fortunately, our wet weather gear has worked out well.
