... He was wounded during the Battle of Loos....in the cods and obviously could not father a child. He told me that his life would have been substantially different had his grandmother's brother not been wounded.
For most families who have relatives touched by war, the absolute opposite applies, as it did in my case.
After a good half day covering the battle of Loos it is back to the hotel room to crack a bottle of red and watch the Olympic Road Race
