In the afternoon we wanted to reach the Jostedal glacier. Just one little, tiny peek would be enough! Unfortunately, it was hidden behind the clouds and we didn´t catch a glimpse of it at all.
We encountered a local guy who answered few of our questions. He must have been amuzed as my mother and I were dressed up like Amundsen and his companions while beating the South Pole.

Nontheless, there was nothing special to see as the interiors were placed in a temporary museum next to the church. The guide´s interpretation was very interesting and catching. It was obvious she was very proud of this sight and she knew a lot about it. I liked the carvings on the outside walls, especially the Urnes lioness.

My mum was almost ecstatic when she found all the big and tasty mushrooms all around the cabin. Well, you should know that we - Czechs - are the biggest fans of picking mushrooms. So the first my mum cooked was a delicious mushroom ragout.

Well, I must say that I was disappointed by Oslo. I mean by its architecture. I come from Prague (so that´s why I am such fastidious) which is full of various historical architectonic styles, but here... There are only two dominant buildings in the city centre - the Parliament and the Royal Palace which reminded me of Buckingham Palace.
But we really enjoyed walking along the Stranden, our late lunch at the Herbern ...
(Handlet brødmat i Ål).
Ble mer regn på vestsiden, men nedover Måbødalen var det opphold, stoppet underveis og gikk ut og tok ...

Yesterday we drove from Sognal - about 250klm - using E16 all the way as it is, marked as a major road, we thought no hairpin bends or narrow bits, wrong, well no hairpin bends but plenty of narrow bits with big drop off's on the right side.
We where on a car ferry from Mannheller and then stopped at Laerdal where we walked the streets checking out ...
Last weekend, I ventured up to Norway to ski at Hemsedal, as part of the Oslo office ski trip. All of us Americans who are in our company's Nordic offices were invited on the Oslo ski trip back during the Nordic conference. We weren't sure if it would actually happen, but a few weeks back, we got the official invite, and Randy, Matt and I decided to go. About 35 people from the Oslo office went, and a few other colleagues who ...
Hemsedal, Norway lizhenningFinally there. We though that from the Norwegian border it would be half the trip left, it was wrong, but I had no problem. From Gol to Hemsedal it was that bad of a snowstorm that you couldn't see longer then 10 meters, that was fun to drive in. It took us some time to get ours stuff ready. And then we walk up some part of the mountain to snowboard up and down.
Hemsedal, Eastern Valleys, Norway nathanael... of the Trolls" - Trollstigen, a masterpiece of engineering and Norway's most famous road. This is Norwegian rugged mountain scenery at its finest. Today we bid farewell to beautiful Aalesund and head to Geiranger. The coach climb up the valleys and stopped to give us a nice view at Gudbrandsjuvet, a thundering gorge. Today's weather wasn't that great. It was raining and foggy. What a lousy timing to have such weather when we are to do the Trollstigen (Ladders of ...
