Montpellier, Languedoc-Roussillon, France inea34... than the amphitheater, it was a semi-circular shape and only seated 10 000. Not much remains but 2 columns, 6 bits of columns, and piles and piles of rubble with fantastic carvings on them. It’s amazing to think of a nation who worked so ***********quer other lands. And not just conquer, but build amazing structures, theaters, coliseums, walls, and aqua-ducts. And other ...
Arles, Provence, France 2totango... not know how.
Perhaps they’ll listen now.

But what a sad story of a man impassioned by his art, yet rejected by all around him. To the point where only his brother befriended and supported him. Only selling 2 paintings during a lifetime, and even those that are given away ended up on hen-house doors and shot up by young passersby ...
Arles, Provence, France 2totango... and get the plane to Singapore. We should be sleeping in a hotel bed this time next week at Bintan Island and while this has been a fantastic trip I will be glad of a bigger bed and some luxuries.

Very warm regards to you all - we are missing the dogs heaps and we pat as many here as possible.

More news soon but not sure where from - it may not be until Bintan.

Avignon, Provence, France falkewind... full of flavour. For the second course I had a seafood dish and Alison had a beef stew on mashed potatoes (looked very simple but Alison said it tasted "Divine!"). My seafood dish had a variety of shellfish in their shells, and other seafood, and was delicious. Our desserts were a mousse made with raspberries, and soft meringues floating in thin custard (the descriptions do not do these dishes any justice at all).

The cost had ...

Avignon, Provence, France qyzhang... for their size, hence the boots are rather large. Next into view is this giant of a man, tattooed arms, shaved head and a bright pink Mohican, (funny as when it gets caught on the hanging christmas decorations) I guess he would have been a punk rocker in the 70's but there is no aggression about this guy, just a big old bear with pink hair and a load of body art. I'd a feeling he may be English, what I didn't expect was the brummy accent that revealed itself ...
Nimes, France laineebee... from long straight grey soul-sappers to twisty marvels of engineering, snaking their way between valleys and rolling hills at first, and then later peaks and huge gorges traversed by sweeping, vertigo-inducing viaducts (I briefly glanced sideways in the middle of one and thought for an instant I was flying - it was probably a hallucination brought on by sleep-deprivation and caffeine enhanced lucozade but still). At least falling asleep wasn't an issue anymore. Keeping ...
Nîmes, Languedoc-Roussillon, France kaiserb_uk... guides were free and spent a fantastic hour roaming the arena, picturing the gladiators and roaring crowd, and checking out the mini museums inside dedicated to bullfighting and gladiatorial lore. The next morning, we had hoped to head to Collias for a kayak trip under the famous Pont Du Gard aqueduct, but bad weather meant that the river was too high to safely travel. We were still set on the kayak trip, so booked another ...
Nîmes, France dangabesisaak... with Davros Tours to southern France where, rumor has it, lay the best preserved roman ruins. So hunting we went. As soon as we crossed the English Channel on the crowded Ryanair airbus, the thick shroud of clouds that permanently covers the British Isles all of a sudden vanished, and revealed the luminous French land down below. We were able to see the white snow trails in a low mountain range, and Ed even pointed out a ski ...
