Woke at 7am to our church bells but had a quiet start as we did not have to meet till 10am. Blue skies and warm. We had breakfast then I went shopping with Carol and the other girls in a tiny deli that sold all local meats, cheeses, oils, green tomato paste etc. the others all tried out their Italian while I asked Carol to order our sandwich. We drove to Corfinio where we sat in the main piazza and had coffee before visiting a monastery ...

Woken at 7am by the church bells right outside our window. I was a bit worried when I saw them yesterday but I was assured that they ring for the last time at 10pm and for the first time at 7am. We travelled to a quite large hilltop town called Scanno through some most beautiful scenery of scattered hilltop villages, rocky outcrops and tall mountains and ...

It would be 100 dollars at home at least. She paid them 25 euro. Bit of a walk then a short drive to Sulmona where we are staying for the last three nights. Hotel Rojan is lovely and our room is spacious with a great bathroom. ...

... see for miles. I forgot my camera but John had his. Unfortunately he hasn’t brought the cable needed to download the photos on to my laptop so I can’t post any pictures. The weather forecast for today is thunder storms and after lunch, we could see the storm clouds starting to gather over the mountain tops. Once we had descended from the ridge, our walk back to Pescasseroli was through the Italian version of the Yorkshire dales except the dry ...

... at you and steal all of you money, so I devised a cunning plan to have some cash in my pocket that was zipped, cash in my shoe and cash in our bag. I wore my pack on my front to be ready for anything. We walked to the railway station( about a block) and I was prepared with the "**** you look" but the station was almost empty. We could not find the platform number and so Big Ems chatted up a Naval Officer to give us directions. ...
