We grabbed a quick snack back on the boat after our fjord tour. The evening events were moved up an hour because the Captain was expecting rougher seas once we got back out into the open water of the North Atlantic. Happy hour was at 5:00pm and the ship provided us ...

... covers to prevent freezing and snow gathering and there are large machines for snow clearing. With the bright sun and the sharp rocks and snow everywhere its spectacular and a highlight of the trip. We reach Myrdal and have to change to the smaller Flam railway, the steepest n the world at a one in eighteen gradient. We wind down to the valley stopping at various points - one is a huge waterfall gushing out of the mountain and everyone disembarks for photos. Down ...

We rode to Flam, but I noticed that as we were approaching the town we seemed to be going against the river - and presumably the kayaking would take place in the fjord which would be downriver. The weather in Flam can change in a second. We popped back to the boat for lunch and there was a full on storm for 10 minutes, then the sun shone again. We experienced this a couple of times during the day. A trip to the supermarket saw us picking up some goodies. Exhausted , we retreated to the ...

... is bigger than Flam. It has 3 convenience stores! Similar to flam, it's positioned on the fjord coastline. We decided to splurge a bit and eat lunch at a restaurant. We didn't have too many options though, as Lærdal only has 1 cafe. The meal itself was delicious. I had the reindeer steak, which was surprisingly yummy, while Dorothy had a salmon and shrimp dish. All of this was for $50+usd, which is not bad for Norwegian standards. ...
