... there it was a series of trains and buses for the next 8 hours until we reached Obertraun: 1 car ride, 2 buses, and 5 different trains total through the Alps. See our itinerary and map below. Our bed and breakfast was located in Obertraun, only a few miles from Hallstatt. Mark and Jane, along with their two teenage children, own and manage the place. Originally from London, they escaped the stressed out city life to enjoy family and nature in Austria. They were some of the ...

We have an electric heater for just such an occasion ;-) MondSeeLand is in the middle of nowhere so we wheeled out the bikes, no not the bikes, the Kindles, and read for a while. After lunch we took a stroll through pleasant farmland in spite of the impending rain. Sure enough, it ...

... and water, we hop back onto a boat to return to St Gilgen. Amongst other sights we spot the steepest rack railway in Austria, the oldest paddle steamer in Austria, several parapenters, a couple if brave/stupid souls climbing a sheer cliff above the water. Keith spots the Red Bull DC6B for the third time in two days, this time captured on video. Returning to St Gilgen we're in time to see more wedding activities - from dancing to following ...
