Today we are in Kitzingen on the Maine River. It's a town of 130,000 people dating back to the 8th century. Early inhabitants included a Benedictine monastery. The region is famous for its wines. We did not participate in the town tour and wine tasting group but opted instead for a self-guided tour through the old town and across the bridge over the Maine River to the "new" town residential area, probably dating back to the 1500s.
