... We have never been here before, resisting the place as little more than a pretentious stuffed shirt. Oh, what an error. The place is wonderfully beautiful. The Renaissance was born in Firenze, and more art from that period is here than anywhere else (at least we are going to say that).
For us the highlight of the day was the statue of David. Seems folks ...
... Bench which was on the way to the Galleria della Accademia (the museum where the famous David sculpture is). I enjoyed an apple turnover and Ian had a chocolate croissant. We did not purchase tickets ahead of time for this museum, so we were anticipating a line to get in. We waited in line for about an hour, but it felt like the line moved rather quickly (not as quick as the line with pre-purchased tickets, but quick nonetheless).

Agin, I sleep in - but with no real plans, I didn't care. I caught up and said farewell to the Kiwis I met the night before - and as i was checking out… I met another couple from Auckland - also checking out! So the six only people that I met staying in the Hotel - we were all from NZ - AUCKLAND!!

After a few more minutes walking, we arrived at the Duomo, and this is where we had to part ways. As always, it is so wonderful to be able to meet up with friends from home.
Our drive home was uneventful, and we raced home in order to catch what looked to be a fabulous sunset. And it was! Our terrace has a fabulous view of the Western sky. What a day! We love Italy!

... would meet us at the apartment for the key exchange and a brief rundown. Italian public phones and working out the international phone number/dial tones is always confusing so after trying unsuccessfully we decide to get the cab and see if the driver could call him. Federico will be a little after 4pm - so out of the taxi we wait on the cobbled street - cold & rainy but in a little alcove for ~15mins ...but we're in <<Florence>>
