Brought brekky this morning at the Cologne railway station because we discovered they have lovely yogurt and muesli. Then we went shopping. I bought a pair of German shoes, made in Hamburg, for $52! Rosanne bought a very comfortable pair of new season shoes for a little more. While we were in the hotel lounge this morning we overheard a group of Brits on a coach tour being corralled into where they needed to go by their super efficient tour guide and made a ...

... We decided to head back to the Old Cologne for dinner last night and on the way passed a mob of people going to a We Will Rock You Queen music concert at the Cologne Music Hall. We got directions from some friendly Colognians and ended up at a very authentic looking Lebanese restaurant. Shades of Sydney Road, Brunswick! The hummus was to die for. Found unbelievable bargain at a 5* Hotel. & couldn't resist. To put it into context the breakfast cost 50% of the room rate! We didn't have breakfast! Even better, parking was also extra but as GG was too tall for their underground car park, we had to park with the smart cars in front of the Hotel at no charge. Hilarious!

The afternoon was at leisure as we continued our journey northward to Amsterdam. Tonight was the Captain's farewell cocktail party and 6 course dinner which featured smoked duck breast appetizer, lobster appetizer, sorbet cleanser, chateaubriand, and baked Alaska. Our French chef, Pierre, outdid himself. It was a wonderful meal.

We wil be in Amsterdam by morning for one final day of sightseeing before we depart for home.

... have to say it felt very English! I took the opportunity to treat myself to a new hat, splashing out a full €3 for it! I continued on to see a couple more markets, and then went back to the hostel for lunch. The walking tour began at 4 at the Rudolfplatz, where one of the gates from the city wall remains. There were 12 entry points all together, but only 3 of these survived the war. The tour was great fun with an entertaining guide, if a ...
