We ended up getting to the hotel at about 8 PM, so didn't have time to go back into town for dinner and to see the city. It was a bit of a bugger considering we won't have time tomorrow as we are at CERN all day. Instead, we went next door to a nice Italian place. I had an awesome risotto, and many of the others got other fantastic looking pasta dishes and pizzas.

... length of the dock (ok, I'm ad-libbing here but it makes for a better story), and between "Ava Maria's" there was me thinking to myself..

...oh...so THAT is what 'CGN' means...

We made it in the nick of time, but I'm pretty sure we had the same boat captain and crew who eyed us venomously after getting off a few days ago..

"Here come the late goers again" ..I could just feel them thinking it..

... waiters, market venders, signage, everyone. All three of us took French in high school, many, many long years ago. Between us, we were able to figure out most of what we needed to get around and read the menus. The French makes sense if you look at Geneva's location on a map, it's in a corner of Switzerland that's nearly surrounded by France.

Tamar and I had no concrete plans for our days. Geneva didn't have any museums we were seriously ...

Originally we planned to go to the Reformation Wall and the Palace of Nations, but after googling pictures and realizing a train that would take us directly to where we were going (Laussane) we decided to do that instead. ... cole, is a beautifully made big wooden space, shutters, heavily insulated, massive flat screen, generators etc. The observatory itself is the classic barrel and dome with a big telescope under a steel rotating dome. He has calibrated it, tuned it, lined it up so you can point to the digital map and it goes to the one you asked for. It is very impressive. In Swiss fashion he finished up, we walked back to his house, then down ...
