    I need to mark Basel on the map & would also like to say to anyone reading this that might be planning a trip to the area, we stayed at The Passage hotel - it was EXCELLENT ! and I would highly recommend it; awesome shower, big rooms, comfy bed, mini fridge (if you can afford that sort of thing), a fantastic gym downstairs, and just a hop, skip, and jump away from anything and everything you could possibly want. ...

    ... Lilly's but firecrackers were constantly set by people in the crowds, and along with inebriated adults from apartments for the next couple of hours after the sun set at around 10pm. I now know why they aren't legal in Perth. The formal fireworks due to start at 11.15 and conclude at 11.45pm but a Carnivale atmosphere everywhere - fantastic! Even saw traditional Swedish ...

    ... yesterday for the first time in 35 million years. On the toe. Despite considerable pain she is soldiering on, putting her best wasp-stung toe/foot forward. Yes, she told me I had to write that. Another version is she said "****" very loudly, a lot. There were lots of wasps 20 miles east of Paris. Oh the irony in such a Catholic country.

    ... vuvuzela to announce their arrival to anyone nearby....repeatedly. We watched them from the warmth of our van. The obvious joker of the group had donned a bright orange t shirt. He clapped and cheered as social riders headed up the hill.
