Lovely family-run hotel, great friendly atmosphere. Easy walk from Interlaken West station & also into town. Large room with mountain view, very comfortable

... Um, is it really $30??? Ugh, hitting the grocery store tomorrow!! Glad breakfast is included in my hostel stay along with laundry service and coffee. Not too bad. Washed my clothes since it was free and looked into activities for tomorrow.

Side note: I'm the only non-asian I've seen at my hostel. All the tourists seem to be Asian here. It's almost too strange. Why this small town in Switzerland? I must be entering the twilight ...

Today we woke up around 8 AM, had some breakfast, did some laundry and researched what to do. Turns out, as part of the campsite you get free travel on all transit. We had rain overnight and on waking it was damp, gloomy and overcast. After breakfast we strolled into Interlaken rather than taking the bus to do a bit of grocery shopping. After lunch the weather was not promising - one or two short spells of sunshine and warmth, so we did not venture forth, opting to potter about - David cleaning the bikes, me doing the ironing. A little later a couple of British caravans checked in, two couples ...

... for Roxane was walking through the Imperial Gardens where once again chess masters could be watched, battling it out on a board the size of a courtyard, with players having to walk across the board to pick up and move each half-metre tall piece….. Love that 30 years on, since last visit, the game went on! Sunny weather, green gardens and snow-capped mountains in the background must surely improve one’s thinking power to play ...

... the snow covered mountain peaks less than half an hour from our destination. Campsite Lazy Rancho receives justifiable excellent reviews and If the thorough and genuine welcome at check-in is anything to go by, we shall have a fab week here with lots to see and do. We pitched, put up the awning, did a load of laundry and have just dined on paella cooked on our newly acquired Cadac gas cooker - first time ...
